Compelling read re post 911, New author fresh voice

This short book is a great read. The author's style is fresh and flows easily. Never disjointed. I read until 5:oo a.m.; as I couldn't quit unfinisdhed. As an ordinary citizen who, because of an unusual birth disorder which under certain circumstances can serve as a special ability rather than a disability, Bunds suddenly finds himself serving as a secret agent for his country following 911.

Most of us are still so emeshed in the 911 aftermath that we have little sense of how we as individuals can have any significant consequence in where the world, our country and our own peraonal lives may go from here.

Bund'story is an inspiration for us all in this regard. We are told that some is fact and some is fiction. Part of the fun of the book is in trying to discern which is which. I hope we hear more from this fresh new author.

WOW

Wow! is all I can say about this book. I couldn't put it down. Jack does a wonderful job telling his story, taking you thru his missions, and keeping you with him all the way. And, the glimpses you see of his sense of humor are tastefully done, and come at just the right times. Killerblind is well written, easy to read, and simply amazing. I already cannot wait to read it again! It's unbelievable to me that there are ordinary people in this country working to keep all of us safe. And, unbelievable that 9/11 could and did actually happen. Let's not any of us ever forget. Thank you, Jack, for telling this story. I loved every minute of it!

Thrilling Book

This book was hard to put down. It was compelling and full of suspense.

I found it intriguing to see how the government goes about keeping us safe since 9/11.

I was glad to get it before it sold out of the first shipments on several websites. I've been recommending it to people all over the country.

I'm sure we'll see plenty more books from this author.

A Must Read

This is one of the best books I've read in long time. Mr. Bunds is an honest and refreshing author. I never thought of everything being possible in this book. It's amazing that our government goes through so much to keep our nation safe. Thanks for the great read!

Good book

Disturbingly possible

One of the characteristics of solid science fiction is that it often eventually becomes fact. I certainly hope that isn't true of this disturbing tale written in 1999 yet it has become increasingly more likely as both societal polarization and domestic terrorism have dramatically increased.

Same as Rinaldi Quartet

Which I had already bought. 'this info should have been provided. It's a good story, however and I do recommend it.

A fascinating book

Giovanni "Gianni" Castiglioni is a luthier--a violin maker--at whose home his friends--a policeman, Guastafeste, a priest, Father Arrigh, and a fellow luthier, Rainaldi--gather each month as an informal string quartet. After one of their sessions, a murdered Rainaldi is found in his studio by Guastafeste and Gianni. His widow tells them he was searching for The Messiah's Sister, the twin to a perfect, unplayed, priceless violin made by Stradivari. Gianni is asked by Guastafeste to help in the investigation.

This book is being released in hardcover by St. Martin's as "The Rainaldi Quartet" in February 2006. No matter the title, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The character of Gianni, the supporting characters and the settings in Italy were well done. The killer, and the motive, weren't ones I anitipcated. But it was the history of violins and violin making I found fascinating. The information enhanced, rather than detracted, from the story. If this is an example of Mr. Adam's writing, I should definitely read another book by him.

Sophisticated and amusing

Set in the early 1990s, the background is familiar enough to be recognizable. Ireland has not yet begun the crazed wealth of the property boom and its young hopefuls are migrating to London and the US in search of prosperity. The real star of this book, though, is the deprecating wit of the protagonist, often centered on the mispronunciation of his given name. An original and promising start with an original slant on the crime novel.

enjoyable crime drama with a twist

Great story and narration. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Can't wait for next installment of Dc Lynchs' escapades.

Loved book

I loved this audio book in particular the humour and the excellent narrator 10 stars to him

excellent,addictive

first time out for James Bally, and I am hooked, witty, thought provoking, excellent. Aidan Kelly narrates it brilliantly, I have now downloaded the next in the series.

I Could Become Part of the Lynch Mob!

While I eagerly await The Gathering Dark from James Oswald this one took my eye because of the similarities of mixing a troubled lead character with hints of the supernatural. It does in fact satisfy in similar ways but takes a very different approach. Donal Lynch gets visited by the recently dead and their interactions are not pleasant. In the blurb the girl that he left behind is mentioned but there is no indication of the rather incredible circumstances surrounding that. Unlike the usual enigmatic past that is gradually pieced together across series like this we quickly get into that past and it is weaved around the current events nicely to form a complete story.

The narration feels very authentic and I enjoyed Aidan Kelly's performance but a great voice actor he is not and his feminine characters sound anything but feminine which might be distracting to some.

I genuinely liked this and will probably follow Donal Lynch's adventures in the future (well the 1990s!). There is some good humour in there too with his christian name seeming to be rather troublesome to his fellow characters being a highlight.
