    Publisher's Summary:
Gabby looked out the window of the car. They were heading over to the new burrito restaurant that had opened just around the corner from their house. It was always this way for Gabby's family. A new restaurant opened, no matter if it was just a second store or not, and they would go running to the grand opening.
Her mind wandered back to school and her health class. They were talking about the food pyramid again and had to memorize how it was built. They even had homework on trying to eat as the food pyramid said for a day. Her parents said they would help but here they were, driving to a place that was unhealthy.
Her dad just shrugged his shoulders when she said it was unhealthy and said she could put a lot of vegetables and meat on it to balance it all out. To him, it didn't sound unhealthy at all unless she drank some soda or something. Her mom even agreed to what he was saying.
They walked inside the restaurant, and Gabby wanted to gag. It was just gross inside, despite it being the grand opening. People had left trash on the floor and on their tables. Grease was popping in the kitchen to make the meat, and it was just way too loud.
When they reached the counter, Gabby looked at all the food. Her brother had said that many restaurants don't use actual fresh meat, and most of it was artificial. The thought of eating fake meat just seemed gross to her. How could anyone eat this stuff?

a lesson for little girls- and anyone eating badly
What did you love best about Eat as I Say, Not as I Eat?
What a great inspiration to eat healthy, packaged in a gentle story- I feel this would be acceptable to kids- not too strict or difficult, but not too dumb or simple.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Gabby- the story showed her awareness of the teacher's lessons, and was an insightful commentary on her mother's concerned but misguided habits- this was heartening- and a good example for all of us to eat healthy.
    Which scene was your favorite?
the "a small yellow spot" coming towards Gabby- very picturesque writing. This whole scene, from breakfast, to the reactions of the bus driver, was fun and clever writing. Very "kid friendly" way to deliver a serious message in an easy to listen to manner.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No, not an extreme reaction- just a pleasant, smiling, appreciative feeling because of the "kid friendly" writing style, and the easy listening style of Narration.
    Any additional comments?
I would love a moment between sentences to breathe.

The sixties were years of uncertainty and turmoil for the United States as, right at 100 years after the Civil War, racial violence threatened to divide the nation yet again. The country sat breathless before brand new televisions to witness the violence of a war in Vietnam that was killing their sons, as their daughters' skirts got shorter and shorter. But in another world, of Powersville in northern Missouri, four children were living in an escapade all their own and knew very little about outside society. In Good? Grief! the Temple children attempt to build a fort to play in and embark on some very precarious adventures that, for them, were "just life". Join Cathy with her orange hair and freckles as she learns the valuable lessons God has to teach throughout every "just life" day. She and her siblings will delight listeners of any age or gender as the innocence of childhood is brought back to mind with all its fun and adventure. Find out just exactly what Good? Grief! can be.

    Review of "Good? Grief"
This author was raised in the same area in which I was raised in MO. She presents a delightful account of our little school and the area where she was reared. May she write more books of this area and Ihave encouraged her to begin a series.
    I enjoyed the book.
I liked the book very much. I chose the book because it was about my hometown territory and I recognized many of the places and characters.
It's a miracle that I lived to tell the tale of my childhood.
The beginning sentence from the book by "Mrs. Ike", as we call her in classroom, well describes the many perilous yet humorous adventures of a 9 year girl and her siblings growing up in rural Missouri.
I was privileged to hear the author herself read the book out loud to our class. The class would be the quietest of the day while she was reading from the book about her adventures. I saw the looks of dis-belief come to their faces several times. They would beg her ... read more, please finish the chapter, or ask do we have time to start the next chapter? She would read right up to the bell then kids would leave the class groaning because they wouldn't get to hear anymore until the next reading day.
I recommend this book to all enjoy a laugh out loud kind of book. It holds interest and fasination for children as well as adults.
It should be made into a Disney movie...
    Cathy,
I just finished your book; what a marvelous coming of age story. Sue said it was strange reading a book about somebody you know personally, while I could actually hear your Dad's voice, your voice, Barbara, Mark, Carol & Robin exactly as I remember you guys. I can sure tell that you are family with the "familiar family sayings" you quote in the book. I know the cars first hand, the geography, and most of the characters in a way most readers do not. Simply put, I thought it was an excellent book.
It is a great tribute to your family and your faith. I think it would make an excellent Disney movie; now all you need is a script; a director; producers, actors, set location, set, wardrobe, a whole lot of money & so on. Again, well done!

    Alien Alert! We're doomed!
Uh oh.. We're doomed! Those were the words uttered by my kids when Aoleon and Gilbert learned of the Luminon's plan of launching an invasion force to capture Terra, plus the recent abduction of Aoleon's parents. Seemed like the Martian Girl had a lot on her hands, and she needed every help she can get in order to stop the evil Lord from his wicked plans. Good thing she had her trusted crew - Gilbert the human, Zoot her brave pet, Bizwat the undercover Procyon disguised as a pizza delivery guy, Helios the gigantic robot with sense of humor, Kyrios an old Martian ally, and the leader of the renaissance, Pax. ("Mom, don't forget those giant furless saurian beasts, the chiron - they actually look cute!" my oldest son whispered.)
Things got really more exciting when Kyrios trained their psionic abilities before they attack the enemy's lair. My sons got ecstatic when Gilbert finally had his superpowers / psionic abilities like moving an object with his mind (my youngest said, "it's called telekinesis on Earth, right mom?") and creating psionic bubble and emitting a ball of energy from his hands. (Those powers are really cool! my boy exclaimed). And the last part where they were almost eaten by the giant slor or a sand-eel, man that was so scary!
The author and illustrator did a superb job with this book. The readers are in for a treat, with all those wonderful creatures and plots and characters. Even the dialogue was so much fun to read. It's no wonder this series is now my kids favorite, (they forgot about Percy Jackson once and for all). We admire Brent's talent in storytelling and illustration, he is a genius. We can't wait to finish the entire series!
More Adventure and Opportunity for Our Curious Mars Rovers
This is Book Four in the five book Aoleon story arc. If you're here and you haven't read the first three books, you probably want to go to them. (The first book is atAoleon The Martian Girl: Science Fiction Saga - Part 1 First Contact).
By this Book Four we've pretty fully established our hero, Earthboy Gilbert, and our heroine, Martian girl Aoleon.

This Book Will Make You Happy!
Loved it! Cody is a very happy and fun character to get to know. Easy to read with supportive pictures and an interesting and diverse group of characters.
Recommend this book to younger kids
In the book, Cody and the Fountain of Happiness, a girl named Cody (a very interesting girl) solves some mysteries and problems with her family. She is a lover of animals and all wildlife, and even likes to feed the ants near her house. In the text she says that she can speak to animals and when the cat says, "mew, mew", she says that it is cat language for " what's the big fuss". That's just one example of how she talks to animals.
My favorite part of the story was when Cody found MewMew (the neighbor's cat) and she understood him saying "What's the big fuss?" because he was lost and everybody was worried.
I would recommend this book to younger kids because of the big print, adventurous theme and the lower level of reading. I think they would like this because I'm inferring Cody is about 8 years old and lots of little kids like the things that Cody likes to do in this book.
I rated it 4 stars because I really liked how Cody could figure her way out of a problem every time and I connected to her love of animals because I love animals too.
Review by Sofia H. age 10 Denver Mensa
    Great friendship
Cody has her whole summer ahead of her. She is supposed to go to camp but her campground is found to be a toxic wasted dump. Her brother Wyatt is her hero and in love with a girl named Payton. Mom is trying to move up in her she selling job and dad drives a truck long distance. With camp for her cancelled Cody makes a new friend named Spencer. He is staying with his grandmother and having fun with her cat called Mew-Mew. Cody is one of those bubbly people who chooses to see the glass half full. Can she pull everyone together when her brother faints at doctor camp, her mother is being watched for a promotion, The girl his brother likes becomes her babysitter and Mew-Mew disappears? This is a short quick read. I really enjoy this authorâs work. I am so glad that I was given the opportunity to read this book .
I received a copy to facilitate my review. The opinions expressed here are my own.

    five thumbs up!
This second book is even better! Gilbert had finally arrived in Mars, and his adventures began. He got to meet Luminess, the matriarch and leader of the City of Luminon, but somewhere along their meeting, Gilbert, in his mind, saw the Luminess transformed into a lizard. This piqued Aoleon's interest, making her determined to go on with the mission tasked to her by the fugitive resistance leader, Pax.
Then, Gilbert was finally introduced to Aoleon's family, and had experienced eating Galact Platter, the Mars version of pizza, topped with asteroids! How cool is that? My kids love pizza, too, so they now even love Aoleon more and more. And when they got to the Martian Space Academy where Aoleon studies, he learned of their history, culture, foreign students, and games like psi-ball match. And of course, a school isn't complete without the bullies; this time in the form of Charm Lepton and her minions, who found ways to irk and even sabotage Aoleon's skyboard. Not cool!
We really enjoyed reading this book and looking at the crisp illustrations. Brent LeVasseur is really a talented writer and artist! We can't wait to read what happens next with Aoleon and Gilbert as they continue with their mission in Book 3 - Hollow Moon.
Inventive, Amusing and Entertaining Middle Grade Space Adventure
The first Book in this series, (the series is now up to at least five books), is a little bit goofy around the edges, but it struck me as so well conceived, well written and well executed that it still caught and held my attention. After some reflection I was curious to see if the author could keep up the cheerfully inventive pace and appeal that was established in Book One, so I downloaded this second volume. I am happy to say that while there is still an engaging air of goofiness to the project, this second book is, if anything, even better than the first.
There are a few aspects of the book that in particular highlight the source of its appeal.
