    Poorest Quality Printing
This edition is completely unedited and printed on the spot. It looks like it used computer software to recognize scans of the original book and convert them into typing, because there are countless punctuation errors (periods mid-sentences, commas where they shouldn't be and not where they should be, etc). Any formatting problems you can imagine are probably in this book. There are not even page numbers. This is the lowest quality item I have ever received from Amazon.
    One of the great books
This is one of the great books. Way better in French. Unfortunately almost all English translations are horribly edited, mistranslated (especially the engineering calculations) and bowlderized, frequently leaving out half or more of the text! For instance, the title is not "20,000 Under.." as in "20,000 Deep", but as in "Distance Travelled" - once around the world i.e "20,000 Leagues under the Seas".
Also is seems to be rarely noted that it is the first half of a two-part series. The second volume is "L'le mystérieuse" (Mysterious Island), and it contains answers to the mysteries left hanging from the first half.
    classic sci-fi.
One of the classics of Science Fiction or in this case Scientific Fiction, in its original language. I'm thrilled with this purchase.

    Classic story, well worth rereading
The last time I read this book was close to 60 years ago, while still in high school, where it was assigned, as one of the required books for the term, in our Freshman English class. That was way back, when schools actually required students to read at least 4 books, each semester of every year, just for their English course. While the syntax and language are, at times, arcane, the story is a classic one, to which I recommend all readers.
    Good man found his way
    I read this book , when I was 10or 12 years old.
I was amazed how I saw Robinson Crusoe and Friday this time. I saw a man doing penance for some wrong dealings , and earning his way back to society.
    A classic
I tried to read this book when I was a teenager and I was put off by the language and writing style. This time I stayed with it and was glad I did. The writing style is quite a bit different than today's. Some of the sentences in this book were three pages long. I viewed it on a Kindle and was glad to have the dictionary available to look up some of the terms used. Overall a very good book. It dragged in some spots, especially when he spends forty pages discussing why the settlers should marry the women they've lived with. The scanning was haphazard - there was no editing after it was scanned, so page numbers and odd notations are scattered randomly throughout. It was free, so I can't complain too much.
Perfect for someone who still enjoys picking up a book!
Purchased as a gift for a family member. This was not a new copy and I did not want a new one. The condition was exactly as stated in the description. Classic story and the great feel of an old book. Quite a combination.
    Good read!
How do you get as old as me and not have read Robinson Crusoe? I don't know the answer to that question. My grandson suggested that I read it, and I did. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

I HATED this book and could not wait to get through ...
This was totally random and disjointed. I HATED this book and could not wait to get through it. So meandering - one event totally unrelated to the next. How this kind of book gets published I have no idea. Not easy to read and even harder to explain. I have never gotten so upset as to write an amazon review for a kids' book but this one put me over the top. Awful, awful, awful.

Learn about the history of Flight with iMindsJNR audio learning series for younger minds. Have you ever wondered how a bird flies, or how a heavy airplane stays in the sky? Flight occurs when an object moves through the atmosphere instead of falling towards the Earth. This object can be an aircraft, a spaceship, a rocket, a balloon, a bird, or an insect. In order for something to fly, it has to be lighter than the air around it or powerful enough to defy gravity, which is the Earths pull. When a plane gains a lot of speed, its wings push air underneath and the plane rises. When a bird flaps its wings, it creates lift by pushing air underneath.

    Editorial Reviews:
A "flight of fancy" may be defined as an impractical or unrealistic idea. Human flight seemed like just such a thing until the Montgolfier brothers filled a balloon with hot air in France in the late 18th century. It was, of course, another hundred years before mankind understood how to make a reliable flying craft with wings. This brief audiobook by iMinds - pleasantly orchestrated and narrated in the Australian accent of Todd MacDonald - introduces the listener to some basic concepts of flight, its history, and its future. At a very listenable five minutes, this little tour could turn on a young engineering mind...and that would be pretty fancy indeed.

Perfect comination of story and illustrations!
Fair play to Kate Thompson for a fun novel for young readers. No fantasy in this one, the narrator is a street urchin who is telling his story to `a fine gentleman' (of how he happens to be standing in the middle of a village holding a choice horse). It could be classified as historical fiction, albeit in an undetermined time in Olde England. It is loaded with intricate pen and ink illustrations which help to move the story along. The plot revolves around a beautiful black horse and the machinations of a young boy.
    Who will buy?
I've been talking a lot about unreliable narrators in my children's book reviews lately. Not entirely sure why that is. I guess it may have something to do with the fact that I've been seeing a lot more of them popping up in kids books lately. The other day I read and reviewed "Max Quigley, Technically Not a Bully" which had the advantage of being the kind of unreliable that is evident right from Chapter One. Then I recently had the good fortune to stumble on author Kate Thompson's early chapter book "Highway Robbery". I liked the cut of its jib. Its easygoing style and plucky hero. I had also heard it was a good unreliable narrator tale, and I was willing to go along with that, but there was nothing indicating to me that the main character was unreliable in the least. Then I got to the end and the whole premise tipped itself over backwards and around. Slim and exciting, Thompson's newest isn't quite like anything out there. And that's a good thing.
As our young ragamuffin street kid will tell you, he wasn't bothering anyone. Just minding his own business when this elegant gentleman and his magnificent horse pulled up and spotted him. The man offered our hero a real golden guinea if the boy would just watch his horse for a while. The boy agrees and there begins his troubles. Everyone from girls to farmers to villains wants to take a closer look at the horse. It isn't until a regiment of soldiers arrives, however, that the truth comes out. This horse is none other than Black Bess, owned by the highwayman Dick Turpin. Now the soldiers want the boy to remain so as to lure Turpin into their clutches. Does he dare refuse? And when the story is done, will you, the reader, believe a word that's been said?
Kate Thompson is the author of "The New Policeman" and its sequel "The Last of the High Kings". And to be blunt, I was not particularly fond of "The New Policeman". I thought it had quite a few nice ideas, but it didn't enthrall me. The text seemed too slow and the pages too many. So, admittedly, I was reluctant to even pick up "Highway Robbery" at first. When you get right down to it, though, I think that the entire reason I like this book so much has to do with the fact that it does what I wanted "The New Policeman" to do. It's quick, it's to the point, it's funny, and it's immediately engaging.
