We are continuing our Unconventional Leaders series with the one and only Elaine Johnston. Elaine is a twenty-three-year-old podcaster, small business owner, and writer. She shares with us about her vision to be ‘the mentor that she never had’ for young women who are wanting to step into their calling and making an impact through their work.
We also talk about what it has been like for her to pursue multiple passions as a young woman and how she has moved passed her own limiting beliefs. We even get a little spiritual toward the end and have a powerful conversation about God and overcoming spiritual trauma.

So how can we use this to our advantage?
Our guest this week, co-founder of Pragmatic and voice experience expert, Scot Westwater shares with us how voice technology is helping shape our businesses and the world around us. I think one of the reasons we struggle with “connecting” with people online is that there is often no context with the statements that are made. As leaders how can we create an atmosphere of connection and really provide the context to what we are trying to communicate?

So often we allow our failures to dictate who we are as people. We may make mistakes in our business but that doesn’t mean that we are a failure. Sure, we may not always make the best decisions or always have the right answers, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t keep striving for success.
Our guest this week, coach and therapist Julia Kristina shares how to turn our struggles into teachable moments and why it’s okay to suck. Often times our brains aren’t able to discern between actual threats and potential threats so we begin to play small. But, Julia tells that when we embrace our shortcomings and start taking ownership for our failures, we stop allowing our failures to define who we are.
