I am not a “writer” but I have been keeping one journal every year for the past twelve years. They are my most valuable possessions.

Writing in a journal takes a lot of discipline, especially when writing does not come natural for you. However it is one of the most powerful disciplines that you can master. Why? Well that's what today's episode of Fidget Friday is all about.

What can you accomplish by resting? If you are anything like me, you are a visionary.  You have a million ideas of the things you want to do and taking a "break" is super hard for you. You KNOW you need rest but actually taking the time is difficult, and when you do your  mind is still drawn back to "all there is to do". In this episode I talk with you about "guilt free rest".

 

I am sharing about this because I have struggled with it so much. However, after being overwhelmed and filled with anxiety this year I am learning the importance of TRUE rest and play. I share with you a way to reframe rest and work and how we can actually be more productive by taking time away from the screen.

Imagine speaking in front of a thousand people for the first time. You practiced your speech over a dozen times but the moment you walk across that stage, you freeze. Your palms are sweaty, you can feel your heart beat fast, and your hands are slightly shaking. What you’re feeling is the adrenaline rush kicking in. You may start to feel awkward and uncomfortable at first, but that’s not a bad thing! There is power in embracing who you are and honing in on the art of telling your story.

Our guest this week, Sally Zimney, presentation coach, speaker, and host at This Moved Me podcast, believes in the power of storytelling. Sally believes that your audience wants to connect with you, the vulnerable, raw, and real you. Being nervous is a completely normal human trait, everyone gets nervous about the things that are most important to them. When we embrace who we are and hone in on our storytelling, our audience won’t care if we forgot part of our routine. Our audience want to trust us and empathize with us. The moment we realize that it’s less about perfection and more about connection, the more people understand who we are.
