Raise your hand if you ever promised yourself that you would do something, only to find yourself feeling guilty for not fulfilling that promise. Maybe you planned on going to the gym 5 times this week, but you only went 3 times instead. There will be days where you may not feel like showing up. But that is okay. So often we get hung up on the shortcomings that we tend to forget about the small leaps that we have accomplished towards our successes.
Our guest this week, Gregg Clunis, believes that as long as you are taking tiny steps every day towards your goal, you will achieve the success you want for your life. Author, entrepreneur, and podcast host of Tiny Leaps, Big Changes, Gregg Clunis is dedicated to helping people achieve their goals, one step at a time. When we allow ourselves the freedom to be human, we are able to learn and grow from our mistakes and shortcomings. Instead of allowing your inner self-critique to dictate how you feel about your failures, try being kind to yourself and celebrate your small victories. Success creates more success and progress creates more progress. So as long as you are making even the tiniest of leaps towards your goals, you will experience great changes in your achievements.

At the age of 17 years-old Dureti Tadesse was imprisoned and tortured for trying to flee her country. After escaping and coming to America she decided to start a nonprofit to reach women who like her, were discriminated against in Oromia, Ethiopia. These women are “systematically denied rights and resources, making it impossible to achieve economic security” (From her website).
In this episode, we talk about how Dureti used her experience as a driving force to make an impact in the lives of other women. We also talk about the process for starting a non-profit and building a passionate team. Dureti encourages us that we do NOT have to have all the resources, knowledge, or expertise to make a difference. We simply need a burning passion and determination to make an impact.

Imagine you are in an inflatable boat, surrounded by all of your close friends and family. You are told not to rock the boat so that you may stay safe inside. There are people all around you who tell you that you are able to go to any island that you would like to go to, just as long as you don’t venture out too far. Seems boring, huh? Well, what they don’t tell you is that you have a compass and a paddle. The truth of the matter is, we all have an island that we are called to. Each one of us has our own boat and our own destination.
Our guest this week, Sagi Shrieber, believes that in order to find our own island, we must have a clear vision of where we want to go to. Sagi shows us that when we reprogram our minds and surround ourselves with greatness, we are able to withstand any storm that comes against us. In those moments of suffering, we find our greatest triumphs.

Sometimes life happens and tragedy strikes. Maybe it’s the loss of a loved one, a rough childhood, or maybe you’ve had a life-altering accident. These things can inhibit us from seeing the bigger picture. It can become so easy to succumb to a negative mindset because we feel like we can’t move past our circumstances. So many times we feel like giving up when things go wrong over and over again.
As for our guest this week, however, hard times are just simple bumps in the road to be learned from. Alex Plaski is a quadriplegic motivational speaker, author, and life coach. Though Alex has been in a wheelchair due to an accident in the 9th grade, he is not bound to his limitations. Alex is able to see the positivity all around him, even through tough situations. By helping other people understand their greatest assets in the midst of tragedy, Alex is able to help others create the life they want to live. Alex teaches us that there is always room for growth and that you can build from any life situation.
