The operational future of a West Clare nursing home will be considered by the HSE this month.

The day care centre of Regina House in Kilrush which can accommodate up to 30 patients was closed in 2020 as part of Covid-19 restrictions.

A decision was taken in 2022 to re-open the service, but this was prevented by staffing deficits, but HSE MidWest says it has now completed an options appraisal to determine its future use.

Local Fianna Fáil Councillor Rita McInerney says it needs to be returned to full service.
