    Last Sunday, Dec. 3, 2023, Lisa Schonberg gave a Field Recording Workshop at the Sanctuary that included a trip into North Troy to experience this location through sound with the technology of special microphones. Sina Basila Hickey was there to record the experience. In this segment you will also hear the voices of Allie Wist and Hanae Utamura.

  • Residents Speak In Favor Of Allbany Gaza Ceasefire Resolution
    On Monday, December 4,a number of residents spoke in favor of a resolution pending before the Albany Common Council to call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and Israel. The council will vote on at their next meeting. We hear from four speakers: former City Council member Barbara Smith; two members of Jewish Voice for Peace, Mark Mishler and Eva; and Ms. Jamil, an immigrant from India.     Thom Francis introduces us to poet Don Maurer who read his work at the Poetic License - Albany Poetry Reading & Open Mic at The Fish Market in Troy on November 13, 2023.
    Inspired by last year's overwhelming success, the Hudson Valley Writers Guild & the Upstate Artists Guild are excited to work together again to present this opportunity for collaboration between poets and visual artists in the Capital District. This year, the organizations present the exhibit on both sides of the Hudson River - at The Fish Market in Troy and the Honest Weight Food Co-op in Albany.

  • Shepherd's Run Solar Farm In Columbia County Seeks Approval After 6 Years
    The Shepherd's Run solar farm proposal in Columbia County, initially proposed in 2017, is expected to include 220 acres of panels and provide enough electricity for 15,000 homes, In 2020 as opposition arose, a group of concerned locals created Friends of Columbia Solar to help support the project. The project is now being reviewed by the state's Office of Renewable Energy. David Grubin of the Third Act talks with Mark Dunlea of Hudson Mohawk Magazine about why the solar project is important to the effort to control global warming.
