  • Election Reformists Want NYS to Adopt Ranked Choice Voting
    NYC has recently adopted ranked choice voting for its primaries in local election and several states (Maine and Alaska) are using it for races including federal elections. Over 100 communities nationwide are now using RCV, where voters ranked candidates in order of preference and the winner must end up with a majority of the votes.   • Seneca Lake Guardians Respond to Signing of Crypto Mining Bill
    Governor Hochul has signed the first-in-the-nation cryptocurrency mining moratorium. The law will put a two-year pause on new and renewed air permits for fossil fuel power plants that house proof-of-work cryptocurrency mining, and requires the state DEC to conduct a study into the practice's climate and environmental impacts.     H Bosh Jr invites Dr. Sorochinski, Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice at St. John’s University, for this week’s Triple Es segment. Marina Sorochinski is an interdisciplinary scholar with a Masters in Forensic Psychology and a PhD in Psychology & Law from CUNY. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice at St. John’s University, New York. Dr. Sorochinski’s research in the area of wrongful convictions focuses on investigative issues and challenges that lead to wrongful convictions within serial violent crime. She has also been an avid advocate and activist in the innocence movement, teaching and raising awareness among students and the wider community.

    "Open Space for All" is a report to address the lack of diversity in open spaces and public parks. This plan lays out a vision for addressing accessibility, representation, and structural issues that keep demographics such as Black, Brown, and LGBTQ+ folks from visiting these spaces. Kathy Moser, Chief Conservation Officer at Open Space Institute, spoke with Sina Basila Hickey about these findings.
