Since graduating from Carnegie Mellon, Sonja has lived in Chicago, San Francisco and New York, and was most recently seen onstage in Quintessence Theatre Group of Philadelphia’s repertory productions of "She Stoops to Conquer" and "Hamlet.” As this week’s guest host, Sonja chats about a marginally-better-than-being-murdered showcase experience, her busy Chicago winters, her decision to leave Chicago (and, spoiler alert, acting,) for “normal life” in San Francisco, her eventual return to the business in New York, and  her self-launched career in audiobook recording.

Since graduating with KC and Ethan, Charlie has gone on to work with many exciting theaters including The Shakespeare Theater in DC, The Pearl Theatre Company, Shakespeare in the Park, and Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival. While not on stage, Charlie keeps busy as a monologue coach and administrator for the company MTCA: Musical Theatre College Auditions.  We track Charlie's post-college trajectory from commercial prospects in LA, to getting "bitten by the Shakespeare bug" in DC, to experiencing the “void” in New York, and ultimately finding a company that he considers an artistic home. At each step of the way, Charlie finds himself re-evaluating success and, something even more important, happiness.

This week on hurryupandwait: the podcast for actors who are in it for the long haul, KC and Ethan talk actor finances with actress Stefanie O’Connell of thebrokeandbeautifullife.com.  Stefanie started her journey into the world of personal finance after finishing her first national tour post-college.  As a recent graduate facing the recession, she realized the uncertainty of the acting profession and the importance of budgeting and financial accountability.  She started studying and writing about the topic, and created her blog exploring “the balance between dreaming big and living within my means.”  Stefanie has been asked to write about personal finance for several other publications including backstage, nycwave, and badcredit.org.  You can check out her free site for great posts including “Actor Expenses Worth the Splurge” and “Self Worth and the Business.”
