  • 2021 Episode 1: Doc Discusses Family

The name Zatechka is like royalty in Nebraska. Dr. Rob is one of the best o-linemen in Husker history and his brother Jon has three national championship rings and a three-year starter.

Jon's son and Rob's nephew Isaac is taking a preferred walk-on spot at Missouri instead of taking a similar offer at Nebraska. Why? Well, Dr. Rob dishes the family dirt to kick off our first podcast of 2021.

Additionally, we talk about Huskers who have left for what they hope is a brighter future and if Scott Frost is really going to change his offense like he says he will.

But most of all, we drink a lot of beer and have fun so enjoy!

  • 2020 Episode 18:That's A Wrap!

The season is officially over. Nebraska ends 2020 with a 28-20 over Rutgers and elects not to play in a bowl game with a 3-5 record.

On this edition of the Husker Doc Talk Podcast presented by the Rimington Trophy, Travis Justice and Dr. Rob Zatecka discuss the choice not to play in a bowl. Also, What is next for Nebraska? Changes? More of the same? Adjustments?

The College Football Playoff has four teams. They are all familiar, Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, and Notre Dame. Dr. Rob spends a lot of time explaining why the playoff should expand. But in the end, did the CFP Committee get the top four teams right? Dr. Rob gives his diagnosis.

This episode is the last podcast for 2020. We want to thank you for listening to us. Your time is valuable, and the fact that you think we bring value to your day or week means a lot to us. It also means a lot to our sponsors.

  • 2020 Episode 17: This Is Idiotic!

Dr. Rob Zatechka is feeling salty! In this edition of the Doc Talk Podcast presented by the Rimington Trophy, Dr. Rob doesn't hold back.  In fact, he swears a lot in this episode, not for shock and awe, but rather because he's so passionate about Husker football.

In the middle of recording this, he said something that made so much sense, and that's why it's the title of this episode. This is idiotic; it's just so basic!

He's not happy about losing to Minnesota, and it now looks like Rutgers next week could be a measuring stick for two completely different programs with different expectations.

  • 2020 Episode 16: Nebraska's Biggest Win Of The Year

Nebraska might just have scored its most significant win of the season this week. We aren't talking about the 37-27 win over Purdue. The victory we are talking about is the satisfaction of knowing you were right along. Now, even the Huskers' most staunch detractors have to admit it.

On this edition of the Husker Doc Talk Podcast presented by the Rimington Trophy, Dr. Rob Zatechka and Travis Justice discuss another crazy COVID week in the Big 10. Ohio State has just five games played this season. When Conference leadership wrote the rules at the beginning of the season, that would not have been enough to play in the Big 10 Championship game. But the Buckeyes have a chance at the College Football Playoff and a National Championship. This league was so hell-bent on not changing its stance for anyone (especially Nebraska) caved under pressure.  And rightfully so!

So Nebraska heads into its game with Minnesota full of confidence after a win against Purdue and the satisfaction of waving a big middle-finger at the likes of Pat Forde, Paul Finebaum, Dennis Dodd, and Steward Mandel. Maybe this season a'int so bad after all.

  • 2020 Episode 15: The Art of The Audible

Clap-gate dominated the postgame conversation of Nebraska's 26-20 loss at Iowa.  Scott Frost accused Iowa of "clapping" on its sideline to distract center, Cam Jurgens.

On this edition of the Husker Doc Talk Podcast presented by the Rimington Trophy, Dr. Rob tells us why he doesn't like the "clap" as a way to call for a snap and takes us through the art of audible at the line of scrimmage.

Also, Dr. Rob talks a lot about the offensive line again this week, here's a shock, Matt Farniok is still a disappointment. What about the Quarterbacks?  Can Nebraska continue to platoon the most important position on the field?  It's up for discussion.

  • 2020 Episode 14: Identity, The Huskers Don't Have One

What's the identity of the Nebraska football team on defense? The answer, they don't have one.

What's the identity of the Nebraska football team on offense? The answer, they don't have one.

After getting blasted by Illinois, the Huskers look like a ship without a rudder, and in this week's Doc Talk podcast presented by the Rimington Trophy, Dr. Rob Zatechka says some changes need to be made.  Dr. Rob is talking about formations and coaches.

  • 2020 Episode 13: A Win, Is A Win, Is Win!

Winning feels good! Scott Frost said it best after the game, the state needed it, the players needed it, he needed it.  Nebraska 30 Penn State 27. Was it perfect? No. Does it matter? No.

On this week's Doc Talk Podcast presented by the Rimington Trophy, Dr. Rob Zatechka and Travis Justice dive deep into the game with the Nittany Lions. The good doctor also gives his honest assessment of Luke McCaffery after making his first start.

If you are a die-hard Husker fan, you might want to pay attention to the Class-A State Championship game between Omaha Westside and Elkhorn South. There will be a lot of names you recognize.

  • 2020 Episode 11: Huskers Don't Play Nice In The Big 10

If you believe the so-called "elite" college football media, you would think Nebraska was a big bad bully! Paul "Pencil Neck" Finebaum called the Huskers an embarrassment to the league for wanting to play a non-conference game after their scheduled contents with Wisconsin was canceled.

In our opinion, the media is way off base, and the majority of fans have it right; all Big Ten teams should be allowed to play non-conference games if something gets canceled.  In fact, Travis Justice ran a poll for his morning show in Des Moines, and 82.8 percent of those who voted said non-conference games were okay.

Enjoy this edition of the Rimington Trophy Husker Doc Talk Podcast. We cover a lot.  Congratulations to our friend Chad Carr at Ticket Express for reaching the 28-year milestone!

  • 2020 Episode 10: Is it time to Bench Matt Farniok?

We are back!  It's been a while, we know, but now that there are actual games to talk about, it is better late than never to start talking football again.

Dr. Rob Zatechka watched the Nebraska vs. Ohio State game. Disappointed in the score he was; however, he was not all that disappointed in the effort and the improvement, noticeably on the offensive and defensive line. However, after further review and he goes in deep on it during the podcast, it might be time to look at someone other than Will Farniok.

Dr. Rob also goes in deep on the quarterback battle and the wide receivers' lack of production.
