Before we dive into the episode, have you seen our badass logo? Awesome designer Trais Colton Barhaug rocked that for us and you should go support him now! T-shirts, pins, and stickers are on their way.
Thanks to Justin’s long time friend, Kwalified, a diehard wrestling fan and dope emcee hailing from Hawaii, for our great intro song.
So… Pro Wrestlers vs. Zombies… yup, definitely a movie. But there’s not a lot of great things to say about it, sadly. Thankfully, there are a ton of great things to say about Matt Hardy’s wrestling skills, especially in some iconic tag team bouts! There are a bounty of great Hardy matches, but we chose 3 for this month: the classic original TLC match, a great Kevin Steen singles match from ROH, and Hardyz face off with the Briscoes, in honor of the late great Jay Briscoe.
Reach for the Sky! This month was a ton of fun, even if the movie wasn’t. The matches were a real treat this month. We got to chat about the latest AEW PPV, too!
Thanks for listening and we’ll be back with a special guest next month, just in time for Mania!

A delayed release on this episode (big surprise), but still more timely than that 2 month break a few months back. We’re getting there… really… we promise… but on to the important questions…
Is Nicolas Cage a legitimate acting genius?
So even though we discover here that Merder may not be the right audience for the weirdness that is David Lynch… and we already know her likelihood or truly enjoying Nic is low… we still agree that this one is a huge step up from Trapped in Paradise. Then again, what isn’t?
Listen to us talk Nic news, Wild at Heart, and getting COVID. And hear Justin yell at his dogs. It’s truly a podcast for the ages!
SPECIAL THANKS to The O’Mulligans for allowing us to use their fantastic track “Cage Rage” as our new official theme song! Listen to “Cage Rage” on Bandcamp and support the band!

We’ll see you next month with a yet to be determined Nic Cage gem, so stay tuned to the socials to see what’s to come.

This, our 15th episode (and slightly belated January episode), features good and bad lucha. The good comes from the Silver King and the bad from the silver screen. While Justin is surely a fan of Nacho Libre and Doug is surely not, they can agree that the wrestling in the film is not so great… but the actual matches they cover from the legendary luchador Silver King, on the other hand.
We touched briefly on the sad passing of Jay Briscoe, but in late February we’re taking on some classic Hardy matches and including a bonus third match of the Hardys vs. the Briscoes, so we can spend a bit more time on Jay in the ring and the mark he’s left on wrestling.
Thanks for joining us each month and if you have requests or ideas, feel free to let us know! For now, enjoy the show and watch Jack Black serenade you below!

Happy New Year
Two! Count em! Two months in a row with a timely episode! But… also two months in a row where Merder and Justin agree that the movie was not good… but how was Nic? That is the question!
Is Nicolas Cage a legitimate acting genius?
Like the film or not, Trapped in Paradise was at least much more fun to discuss for the Cagematchers this month and it lead to Justin picking one he knows at least HE loves for next month in David Lynch’s Wild at Heart… even if this month’s film had him so frazzled he referred to Laura Dern as Helen Hunt.
We hope you enjoy this holiday special (or holiday not-so-special, as it were)… even if you don’t enjoy the movie, or even Nic Cage!

And as a bonus, the episode closes out with a track from UK grindcore band Cage, the song is entitled “Trapped in Paradise” and is inspired by this movie. It’s loud and obnoxious and oh-so-much better than this movie!
SPECIAL THANKS to The O’Mulligans for allowing us to use their fantastic track “Cage Rage” as our new official theme song! Listen to “Cage Rage” on Bandcamp and support the band!

We’ll see you next month with Wild at Heart, a great excuse to dive into some David Lynch and revisit young Nicky, who we encountered in episode 1 of the podcast.

Our 2nd Christmas episode and 14th episode overall, this month is all about Santa Mick! We dive into a couple classic Mick Foley matches before having director Tommy Avallone hop on to talk his fun holiday documentary, I am Santa Claus. Tommy’s quirky and unique visions really fit the niche vibe of Doug and Justin’s unified interest… and anyone who enjoys this pod is sure to enjoy Tommy and his docs!
Happy Holidays to everyone and thank you for listening! Enjoy you family and friends, watch a good movie, and check out some fun wresstling while you’re at it.
Support Tommy by following him on Twitter, heading to his website, and watching his new Barney doc on Peacock!
Next month, we plan to dive head first into the world of Lucha Libre, one of Doug’s favorite wrestling styles, so we are excited to hang out with you all again in January.

Thanks and see you in the New Year!
It has been far too long since we dropped a new episode, but we’re back and we’re on a schedule now. Despite dropping this one on December 1st, we consider this our November episode, so expect ANOTHER episode in a few weeks and a steady schedule of one a month to follow!
Is Nicolas Cage a legitimate acting genius?
After a failed attempt at recording a spooky season episode on Vampire’s Kiss, we returned to record a Thanksgiving-ish time episode on a film neither of us was all that thankful for. Tune in to find out why neither of us really care much for Mandy and why both of us really enjoys the eggnog/coffee concoction Justin whipped up.
SPECIAL THANKS to The O’Mulligans for allowing us to use their fantastic track “Cage Rage” as our new official theme song! Listen to “Cage Rage” on Bandcamp and support the band!

We’ll see you next month with Trapped in Paradise, a holiday treat that neither Merder nor Justin has seen before (well Justin may have have seen it, but doesn’t remember because he’s old).
On this 13th episode, we go big… the 2002 blockbuster superhero flick from Sam Raimi, Spider-Man, and two classic matches from BONESAW himself, the Macho Man Randy Savage! In the rare episode where the movie and the matches are fantastic, Doug and Justin truly have a fun time talk about everything from Flair and Miss Elizabeth to the unique career of one Mr. Raimi.
We hope you have some fun with us here this month and we assure you that some great films and matches are ahead of us, too. Great episodes are planned for the coming months and we hope you come along for the ride.
Next month, we’re getting festive… hopefully with a guest or two. Stay tuned for a fun holiday wrestling extravaganza!

No frills, no show notes, no intro, no outtro… just a new track from our friends Sickpay!

Look for it on Bandcamp, Spotify, and all the regular spots later this week!
Third episode… well… really fourth, but we lost one to recording issues, but you’ll hear all about it… so, rather than beat aroudn the bush, why don’t we get to the business at hand, exploring life’s big questions:
Is Nicolas Cage a legitimate acting genius?
This month, we try for a second time to talk about one of Nic Cage’s Ghost Rider films. The first attempt failed (much like the first movie), but this time it’s Merder and Justin taking on Spirit of Vengeance with special guest Joe Macri.
We hope you enjoy the podcast… even if you don’t enjoy Nic Cage!

We’ll see you next month with Merder’s pick for a spooky season movie, the classic old school Nic Cage bizarro comedyVampire’s Kiss.
Before we dive into the episode, have you seen our badass logo? Awesome designer Trais Colton Barhaug rocked that for us and you should go support him now! T-shirts, pins, and stickers are on their way.

On this 11th episode, we move from our standard format for a special interview with the filmmaker of the new documentary Out in the Ring and a few of the wrestlers featured in the film. Joining us for this episode, recorded while the crew were together at Fantasia, are director Ry Levey and LGBTQ+ wrestlers Sonny Kiss, Mike Parrow, and Dani Jordyn. The 3 wrestlers and Ry talk about the film, the process of making the film, and what it’s like to be a queer wrestler in the evolving world of pro wrestling.
This was a very special one for Doug and Justin, who really felt like the film and this conversation shed a lot of light on things a lot of folk probably don’t think about. It was truly an honor to have this quartet of awesome folks join the Jerks for a little over an hour. Hopefully, they can all come back and talk more about their experiences and maybe even a few of their favorite films.
Make sure you follow al of the great guests at their social media links below and come back next month when we return to the “regularly scheduled program” for another great (or not-so-great) movie and more great (or not-so-great) wrestling.
