  • The Farchive, Episode 4: Goodbye Erik, We Will Miss You Friend

Welcome to The Farchive, on the former feed of the original flagship podcast of The Farsighted. The rebranded pod features raw and (mostly) unedited interviews, both new and not-so-new. Many will be Justin, aka thepaintedman (founder of The Farsighted), while others will be interviews conducted by other staff or friends of The Farsighted. We created this show to share the great interviews that didn’t fit the format of other shows on the network, feeling the content was too important or interesting not to share. While some theme music and a new logo may be coming in the near future, don’t expect many bells and whistles. This podcast is just about the interviews. With that… we welcome you to THE FARCHIVE!

This Farchive episode is a bit different, it’s not simply an unedited interview, but instead it’s a replay of an old episode from another pod on the network. On an episode of Grindhouse Messiah, we had a special guest named Erik Myers, who became a fast friend. As an advocate for Autism Awareness, Erik brought to us the discussion of Autism depicted in genre film. In one of our most thought provoking episodes, the discussion was fantastic.

Today, we present this episode as a remembrance of the heart of this genuinely unique and creative artist who was a better person than he was even a filmmaker. Last week, he took his own life, reminding us just how fleeting life can be.His films can be found easily to stream, with links below. We encourage you to check them out and to remember him as the great creative mind and caring heart that he had. You can see his obituary at Digital Memorial and the famil asks that anyone who wishes to give in his memory, give to The Howard County Autism Society

  • Curtain Jerkers, Episode 3: The Jerks Join the Cult of Personality AKA the CM Punk Episode

Before we dive into the episode, have you seen our badass new logo? Awesome designer Trais Colton Barhaug rocked that for us and you should go support him now! T-shirts, pins, and stickers are on their way.

On this 3rd episode of Curtain Jerkers, Doug and Justin join in on the CM Punk mania that has taken the industry by storm. Recorded just before his first match in damn near a decade. Two great matches and a solid indie horror film later, we truly had a great time taking CM Punk.

Join us on this episode to talk Punk vs. Joe 2 and the classic Punk/Cena match at Money in the Bank 2011. Great matches, solid movie, great times. Let us know what we missed and what you thought in the comments and please leave us some feedback if you feel so inspired!

We’ll be back next month with another great (or not-so-great) movie and another great match.

  • Curtain Jerkers, Episode 2: The Jerks Take on Justin’s Favorite Movie – THEY LIVE

Before we dive into the episode, have you seen our badass new logo? Awesome designer Trais Colton Barhaug rocked that for us and you should go support him now! T-shirts, pins, and stickers are on their way.

On our 2nd episode of Curtain Jerkers, Doug and Justin spend time with the late great “Rowdy” Roddy Piper. One of the wrestling best heels, Roddy also made a name for himself in the film world. It’s no secret that both Doug and Justin are big fans.

Before we tackle today’s feature presentation, the podcast starts with a chat on the fantastic Lovecraftian short film from 2015 called Portal to Hell. Then, the boys dive head first into John Carpenter’s They Live, with controversial and not-so-controversial takes on the sci-fi/horror gem.

The featured match is Wrestlemania 8’s classic Roddy match vs. Bret “The Hitman” Hart. The match is notable for several reasons and Doug has some great notes to share. And, get this… Roddy ACTUALLY loses.

We’ll be back next month with another great (or not-so-great) movie and another great match.

  • Curtain Jerkers, Episode 1: Doug vs. Thunderlips

On the inaugural episode of Curtain Jerkers, Doug and Justin explain what a “curtain jerker” is, what to expect on the podcast, and dive right into some movie and wrestling talk.

Today’s feature presentation is the sometimes less heralded Rocky entry, Rocky III, which prominently features Mr. T, as well as featuring a fun, ridiculous, and classic scene with Hulk Hogan as Thunderlips, the vain and seemingly indestructible monster heel. The discussion tackles such important questions as why they named a character “Thunderlips” and why we don’t get more backstory about the best named character in the series, Clubber Lang.

The featured match is the tag team main event of the original Wrestlemania, pitting Hogan and T against Roddy Piper and Paul Orndoff. They discuss the spectacle that was this first Mania, as well as how much bigger wrestlers – at least WWF wrestlers of this era – are than regular people.

  • The Farchive, Episode 1: NOTHING BUT THE BLOOD’s Daniel Tucker

New thriller Nothing But the Blood tackles religious hypocrisy and abuse, while asking us just what lengths we would go to to expose truth or even get revenge against those who have wronged us. Director Daniel Tucker was kind enough to indulge Justin, whose interest in the intersections of faith an art inspired this very website and podcast network, in discussing his faith background, his fears, and what the film is all about. You can read Justin’s review of the film over at Cinapse and/or watch it on Amazon (trailer below).

The two renditions of “Nothing But the Blood” leading into and out of the interview are from Reawaken Hymns and Stryper.

    Without further ado, here’s Daniel…
