Second episode… a movie we both really enjoyed, but what did Merder think of Nic in this one? Join us as we explore life’s big questions:
Is Nicolas Cage a legitimate acting genius?
This month, spoilers abound because the film is pretty well known by now… 1997’s modern action classic, Con Air.
We hope you enjoy the podcast… even if you don’t enjoy Nic Cage!
SPECIAL THANKS to The O’Mulligans for allowing us to use their fantastic track “Cage Rage” as our new official theme song! Listen to “Cage Rage” on Bandcamp and support the band!

Follow us on Instagram at @cagematchpodcast to be a part of the show. We’ll have polls for next month’s CAGE-O-METER rating, future giveaways, and much more. You can check out Merder, Justin, and The Farsighted over there too.
The Farsighted is also on Twitter and Facebook too, so join the discussion.
We’ll see you next month with the much maligned Ghost Rider film and our first guest, our friend and huge Ghost Rider (the character, not necessarily the film) fan.
Before we dive into the episode, have you seen our badass logo? Awesome designer Trais Colton Barhaug rocked that for us and you should go support him now! T-shirts, pins, and stickers are on their way.
Thanks to Justin’s long time friend, Kwalified, a diehard wrestling fan and dope emcee hailing from Hawaii, for our great intro song.
On this 10th episode, we kick off with a short story from last episode’s guest, the great Craig Liggeons, then jump into our discussion of the award winning dramatic gem, The Wrestler, and a few matches from the great Deathmatch wrestler Necro Butcher. And, who better to talk a great movie and matches from Necro Butcher than the great Deathmatch wrestler and fellow cinephile, Jeff Cannonball.
While Justin somehow forgot to hit record at first, the consummate pros Jeff and Doug save his ass with killer conversation about this film and the pair of iconic matches. As a bonus, we dive into one of Jeff’s matches where Necro Butcher himself got involved.
We also dive into his upcoming role in a horror short called Bronko, directed by indie filmmaker Owen Russell. The indiegogo campaign just wrapped, but follow Jeff and Owen for more info on the film!
This upcoming weekend of June 24th and 25th feature will two great matches from Jeff for his home turf of H20 Wrestling (run by his good friend Matt Tremont) and his home away from home Blitzkrieg Pro. You’ll be able to watch him wrestle on IWTV if you can’t make it out… and while you’re there, check him out on their original show, The Life of!
Make sure you follow Jeff on Twitter and Instagram. His soda reviews have become the stuff of legend.
We’ll be back next month with another great (or not-so-great) movie and more great (or not-so-great) wrestling.

On this 9th episode of Curtain Jerkers, Doug and Justin are joined by the famed WMMR “Black Listna”, nerdy podcaster, hilarious comedian, diehard wrestling fan, and all around awesome guy Craig Liggeons! If a few references feel a bit outdated, that’s because Justin took 2 extra weeks to post this episode. Call it laziness, call it being busy, or call it whatever you will… he promises he is sorry.
Along with the aforementioned guest extraordinaire, the Jerks talk the classic Arnold joint The Running Man and a couple “classic” matches from none other than Jesse “The Body” Ventura. The tables have turned from last month where the film wasn’t stellar but the matches were… but you’ll have to listen to hear exactly how these matches and movie went over with the trio of podcasters.
Make sure you follow Craig on Twitter and Instagram… and check out HIAC Radio and Comic Book Gurus.

We’re finally here… for better or for worse… the inaugural episode of the podcast where we ask the important questions:
Is Nicolas Cage a legitimate acting genius?
This month we try to keep it relatively spoiler free for the new Cage flick The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent and we introduce a bit about the podcast and the hosts! We hope you enjoy the podcast… even if you don’t enjoy Nic Cage!

On this 8th episode of Curtain Jerkers, Doug and Justin use a bad Shawn Michaels movie and two great matches of his to backdoor their way into a Scott Hall memorial episode. In other words, go watch the two Scott Hall/Shawn Michaels ladder matches and don’t waste your time on the film Avengers of Justice: Farce Wars. Doug and Justin both have high tolerances for bad movies, especially in the independent market… but this one… notsomuch.
We’ll be back next month with another great (or not-so-great) movie and more great wrestling.

On this 7th episode of Curtain Jerkers, Doug and Justin talk the Ace, Hiroshi Tanahashi… including matches with Minoru Suzuki and Kota Ibushi, as well as his feature film debut in My Dad is a Heel Wrestler. But before they dig into the Ace’s career, they spend some time on AEW Revolution, the best PPV in quite some time. As per usual, Doug schools Justin… this time, even moreso than usual since Justin know so little about Japanese wrestling.
We’ll be back next month with another great (or not-so-great) movie and more great wrestling.

On this 6th episode of Curtain Jerkers, Doug and Justin are by their mutual friend, the great Adrianna Gober. Not only is she an awesome human being, but she has great taste in film and is among the best podcast guests of all time. You can hear her on a couple of episodes of Grindhouse Messiah, as well as numerous shows over at the Cinepunx network.

On this 5th episode of Curtain Jerkers (sorry it’s a few days late, as it was scheduled to drop in late December but life got away from Justin… as it does sometimes), Doug and Justin are joined by Nick “The Professor” Harrison, a badass Dean of Students who does the most entertaining wrestling videos on social media. His love of wrestling and his fun loving attitudes shine through are the trio discuss Bill Goldberg and the Christmas Classic, Santa’s Slay.

On this 4th episode of Curtain Jerkers, Doug and Justin are joined by Justin LaBar of Wrestling Inc, Busted Open Radio, and IWC Wrestling in Pittsburgh to discuss Dr. Britt Baker DMD. But before he hops on, Doug and Justin chat about indie film Powerbomb, a wrestling centric thriller that features Britt in one of the supporting roles.
