I’m very honored to talk with Dr. Prudence Hall.
In my work as a naturopath specializing in hormones and nutrition to treat weight gain
and energy imbalance. I am being asked many questions about hormones so I welcome
this special opportunity to interview Dr. Hall and ask her the important questions so that
many women will be able to hear in persone the her answers.
Dr. Hall, for people who do not know you and hear you for the first time. Can you tell us
a little about yourself?
Dr. Hall, How does it feel like when we are out of hormonal balance?
Why is it so important to be in hormonal balance?
Dr. Hall, what are the factors that throw our system out of hormonal balance?
Many women are afraid of taking hormonal replacement therapy because it might cause
cancer. What can you tell this woman about hormonal replacement therapy?
Women with a history of tumors or cancer in the breast, uterine, thyroid or women who
have the gene for cancer. Is hormonal therapy dangerous for them or is there room for
serious consideration?
women with thrombophilia are hormones recommended in this situation?
hormone replacement therapy is recommended only when a woman has hot flashes?
What are the signs a woman should consider starting a treatment?
A woman who is just starting her menopause and still does not really feel hot flashes
and it only starts with a small increase in weight, moods and a little low energy. Does
she also need hormone therapy at this point or can it be started with herbs and
supplements?
What blood tests do you recommend to do to detect if there is a hormonal imbalance?
Dr. Hall When you talk about hormonal therapy, is it always biologically identical
hormones or are "normal" hormones safe?
Are there any external signs that indicate a hormone deficiency? If you see a woman
coming into your office, can you guess in advance what hormones she is missing?
How important is thyroid function for hormonal balance?
Question for people who eat vegan or vegetarian: Do they have more challenges than
people who eat animal-protein in the context of the hormonal balance in their body?
Hypothyroidism - I see many women in the clinic who complain of all the symptoms of
hypothyroidism, but their tests are "seemingly" normal with a normal tsh, t3 in the
middle and t4 in the middle of the range. What are we missing here? It looks like a
thyroid, but blood tests do not show a thyroid.
In my book I talk about a deficiency of the hormone t3 in the cells of the body. Since it
may be "seemingly" normal in the blood test, but lacking in the body's cells, do you have
a way of knowing what the true state of the active thyroid hormone is?
Women in their 45s who are suddenly starting to gain weight. How to properly address
this situation. Is it hormonal?
Diabetes, how much do you think is a hormonal disease and does hormone
replacement therapy help with that?
Let's talk about nutrition... Can our diet take the body out of hormonal balance? And
what diet do you recommend to encourage hormonal balance in the body?
I see blood tests of women aged 55/60 who say they have no hot flashes and overall
feel fine, but blood tests show that their body is out of hormones (estrogen,
progesterone, dhea, testosterone - very low and high pth) do they also need hormonal
treatment?
What are your tips for a woman who wants to take care of herself to get back to feeling
energy, vitality, passion and being at a normal weight?
