Hype is my Superpower

We forgot to do the intro for this episode so I'm putting it here instead: This is Hype is my Superpower, a podcast where two best friends talk about the stuff we're hyped on — most frequently, comics.

In this episode, Will tackles Black Panther Book 9: The Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda vol 4, and Guardians of the Galaxy by Al Ewing vol 2: Here We Make Our Stand. Steve continues the Gnomon by Nick Harkaway train: chapters 17 and 18, and the return of Constantine Kyriakos.

Quick announcement: our posting schedule will be a bit erratic over the next couple weeks, with holidays and travel and so forth — though travel may also bring some special features to this pod! As for content, this week Will delivered on Power Pack: The Powers that Be, Thor by Donny Dates vol 2: Prey, and Amazing Spider-Man by Nick Spencer vol 12: Shattered Web. Steve soldiered on through Gnomon by Nick Harkaway, chapters 15 and 16, and the return of Athenaïs!

In this episode, we learn where Will came from, and why he and Steve must do this podcast. Also, U.S. Agent: American Zealot, M.O.D.O.K.: Head Games, and the long-awaited Spider-Gush — Amazing Spider-Man by Nick Spencer vol 11: Last Remains and the Amazing Spider-Man: Last Remains Companion. Steve had more Gnomon, by Nick Harkaway, featuring a return of fan-favorite, Berihun Bekele.

Don't believe Will's lies: this is not effing spider-gush week. Instead it's an exploration of alt-realities, false memories, and anomalous happenings: Will with Venom by Donny Cates Vol. 5: Venom Beyond, Black Widow by Kelly Thompson Vol. 1: The Ties That Bind, and Captain Marvel Vol. 5: The New World; Steve Chapters 11 and 12 of Gnomon by Nick Harkaway.

It's your weekly dose of Hype! Will's got Iron Man vol 1: Big Iron, Doctor Doom vol 2: Bedford Falls, and Savage Avengers vol 3: Enter the Dragon (don't get lured in by his promise of a Venom book, we pushed that to next week). Steve's got, what else? More Gnomon, by Nick Harkaway, where the Neith chapters really take off!

After a huge buildup, we get to the meat of X of Swords and it's... a huge curveball. Check out our interpretations, thoughts, reactions, and petty jokes, and how this sets up the next era of X-Men.

We finally did it! X of Swords is here, and it is wild. Buckle up for the big crossover leading out of our Giant-Sized Dawn of X podcasts, and into the next act of Jonathan Hickman's run as creative lead of the X-Men franchise.

Will's got Werewolf by Night: New Wolf Rising, Conan the Barbarian: Into the Crucible, Juggernaut: No Stopping Now, and Fantastic Four: Antithesis. Steve, when not distracted by baseball, is on that Gnomon train, with chapter 9, which changes everything.
