We Want To Hear From YOU!

People think being nice is enough because it’s the most socially acceptable substitute for holiness.

It lets you feel spiritual without surrender…
 look righteous without transformation…
 and avoid being cruel while staying unchallenged, unrepentant, and unchanged.

“I’m a good person” has become the modern-day fig leaf.

“I don’t bother anybody.”
 “I’m kind.”
 “I help people.”

And yes—that’s better than being cruel.
 But here’s the truth:

👉 God never said niceness was the standard.

You can be nice and still be:

• 
  prideful
• unforgiving
• dishonest
• spiritually lazy
• unwilling to submit to God
  
  

That’s why Scripture goes past behavior and straight to the heart:

“They honor me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.” — Matthew 15:8

“Forgiven People, Forgive People”
Let’s start at the cross.

Before we get deep, let’s get honest.

Forgiveness sounds spiritual…
until it gets personal.

It’s easy to say, “I forgive you.”
When nobody really hurt you.
But when someone wounds you for real
talks about you, betrays you, mishandles you, overlooks you, lies on you
suddenly forgiveness feels less like a command
and more like a suggestion.

But then… we look at the cross.

While hanging on the cross, after being whipped all night long, bleeding, mocked, rejected—
Jesus Christ said:

“Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” (Luke 23:34)

Let that settle in.

He didn’t say:

• “Forgive them after they apologize.”
• “Forgive them when they realize who I am.”
• “Forgive them if they change.”

No… He forgave them while they were still persecuting him, while they were still spitting on him, while they were still chanting crucify him

Let’s be honest — some of us have been riding the same emotional merry-go-round so long, we should have a season pass. Different people, same pain. New year, same nonsense. You think you’re making progress, but you’re just spinning around and around dressed in better outfits.

Why? Because unlearned lessons lead to repeated tests. God’s not punishing you; He’s preparing you. But He’s not about to promote you if you keep flunking the same exam with the same excuses.

So do yourself a favor — be quick to admit when you’re wrong. The faster you confess, the faster you correct. The faster you correct, the faster you heal. And healing hits different when humility leads the way.

Let’s clear something up this morning—because some of us have been quoting scripture… and misinterpreting it at the same time.

In Philippians 4:11 Paul says:

“I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.”

Now somewhere along the way…
 “content” got translated into:

“Stay down.”
 “Don’t want more.”
 “Just accept whatever happens.”

And respectfully…
 that’s not Bible—that’s complacency and the spirit of idleness talking.

Jesus rode into Jerusalem on the back of a donkey.  

His riding in on a donkey also fulfilled the prophecy of Zechariah, which was proclaimed approximately 500 years earlier as he predicted in Zechariah 9:9 that the king would come seated on a donkey.  ‘

In biblical times, kings were customary to ride a stallion or warhorses as symbols of power and conquest. If the governor at the time, Pontius Pilate, had come into Jerusalem, he would have been in a chariot with an array of soldiers.  He would have bought his whole posse, showcasing his prestige and level of importance, solidified by a host of armed men.

But Jesus, the able to calm storms, resurrect the dead, and turn water into wine, came on a donkey with all His disciples unarmed, representing the Kingdom of God and His peace.
