In this raw and honest conversation, Kenny opens up about:
-Life as a high-level D1 athlete and the pressure to perform

Heartbreak nearly killed him.
Kevin Crenshaw shares his raw and deeply honest journey through heartbreak, suicidal thoughts, addiction, chronic illness, and losing everything — long before his life ever “looked” like it was falling apart.
In this episode of I Am Redemption, Kevin opens up about how heartbreak shattered his identity, how chasing love and relief slowly turned into deeper pain, and how avoidance led him down a path of addiction, mental health collapse, overdoses, homelessness, and a complete loss of self.
What started as emotional pain and identity confusion escalated into a full unraveling. Kevin talks candidly about surviving his own mind, losing trust in himself, and hitting moments where he didn’t know if he would make it out alive.
Despite near-death experiences, illness, and repeated attempts to escape his pain, Kevin continued to spiral, a reality many people struggling in silence know all too well. This conversation dives into the truth about heartbreak, addiction, and healing, why “high functioning” doesn’t mean healthy, and why awareness alone isn’t enough to change.
A significant part of Kevin’s story also centers on his relationship with God, not in a polished or performative way, but in the moments where he had nothing left. He shares how faith entered the picture at his lowest points, how surrender replaced control, and how trusting God became part of rebuilding his life from the ground up.
Kevin also talks candidly about:
• Heartbreak and identity loss
• Suicidal ideation and mental health collapse
• Addiction, overdoses, and avoidance
• Chronic illness and nervous system burnout
• Homelessness and losing everything
• Wrestling with God during suffering
• Surrender, faith, and letting go of control
• Responsibility vs. awareness
• Rebuilding from nothing without romanticizing pain
This episode is for anyone who:
• Appears put together while quietly struggling
• Has tied their identity to love, success, or validation
• Is surviving instead of truly living
• Is sober-curious, in recovery, or facing emotional pain alone
• Is questioning faith, meaning, or purpose in the middle of suffering
If this conversation resonates, you’re not alone, and there is a way forward.

When Josh Melching returned home from war, the battle didn’t end.
The symptoms of PTSD slowly began to surface. In a very short amount of time, Josh lost some of the closest people in the world to him. Trying to numb the pain, he turned to alcohol, a path that eventually led to serious trouble with the law.
Rock bottom came fast.
What changed everything wasn’t a shortcut or an escape. It was working with his hands. Josh found an outlet in woodworking. What began as a way to quiet his mind became his purpose. Piece by piece, he started creating handcrafted American flags — each one built with intention, discipline, and meaning.
Today, Josh is the owner of Wars End (@wars__end), a veteran-owned brand whose flags are in high demand, helping people commemorate memories, milestones, service, and sacrifice through powerful American craftsmanship.
Josh’s heart for giving back is just as strong as his work. He donated a custom flag to I Am Redemption to commemorate our 100th episode, and even more meaningfully, created and donated a flag for our good friend Kayleigh Williamson to honor her invitation to the Special Olympics.
This episode is about war, loss, accountability, addiction, healing, and what happens when you decide to turn pain into purpose. This is Josh Melching’s redemption.

Most people think danger looks obvious. Sometimes it looks like discipline, fitness… and a daily energy drink.
This week on I Am Redemption, Shawn Livingston sits down with San Antonio native, father, trainer, and boxing coach Casey Barnett—a man who looked healthy on the outside while quietly battling pills, alcohol, and isolation for years.
After finally confronting his substance use, Casey believed the hardest part was behind him. He re-committed to fitness. He rebuilt his life. By all appearances, he was “back.” Then something no one expected nearly took his life.
A daily dependency on energy drinks led to a devastating stroke—at the very peak of his physical condition.
In this raw conversation, Casey opens up about:
• Hiding addiction behind discipline
• Pills, alcohol, and silent isolation
• The stroke that nearly killed him
• Rebuilding mentally, physically, and spiritually
• Why he now chooses to live out loud
• Turning pain into purpose to help others
This episode is a powerful reminder that not everything dangerous looks destructive, and that real healing requires honesty at every level.
