  • Pastor Brenda White Green and Lady Lockhart - Trust in God
Content provided by Recovering your Harvest of Grace Outreach

Called to Lead by Serving Others

Recovering your Harvest of Grace Outreach Ministry is focused on those on the margins of society—homeless individuals and prisoners. It was founded in 2009 by Pastor Brenda White Green. Her husband, Pastor Kevin Green, is a cofounder of the ministry.

Pastors Brenda and Kevin are dedicated to meeting the needs of others before their own. Together, they go into the world to spread the Word of God and bring hope to the people who need it most. For instance, one of their main initiatives is to give back to the army cadets—courageous individuals who have selflessly served our country.
    Pastor Brenda White Green

In 1968, Pastor Brenda was born in a country town called Floydada, TX. The Lord was present in the home she lived in at all times. At the age of 33, she was called to the ministry of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Lubbock, TX where she served others and was taught the Word of God.

In 2004 in Lubbock, Pastor Brenda felt summoned by the Lord to go out into the streets and the world to feed and touch the people that are rejected by society. She made it her mission to let them know that regardless of their circumstances, Jesus loves them all the same.

Pastor Brenda began travelling to different places to learn about outreach ministry. During her travels, she began getting stronger in the Word of God. Her work took her to places like:

     Albuquerque, NM
     Hobbs, NM
     Dallas-Fort Worth, TX
     Midland, TX
     Odessa, TX
     Denver, CO
     New Orleans, LA

  • Jeremy Grater and Zack Tucker - The Fit Mess
Zach resides in Albany, NY with his young daughter. Zach has a passion for helping people define and meet their wellness goals. He thinks that every person is different and there is no one size fits all solution for someone’s wellness. He is on a mission to share his story and some of the tools that helped him on his own wellness journey. Zach is certified to teach yoga and Insanity® Live.

    Here is Zach’s why:
“My journey into health and fitness started with my first job out of college, the office was going to run a 5k in the summer, I decided to sign up for it. It didn’t help that I had just quit smoking and walking to the house from the driveway was considered intense cardio for me. I was close to 300 lbs and ate fast food every day. I started with a small change of running and little did I know that it was the first of many steps to get to a place where I was OK physically and mentally.

From the day I started running, I have continued making small changes and searching for inner peace that had always eluded me. Along the way, I have picked up so much information that I want to pass on to others who are in the same situation that I have been in. It’s time for me to give back to humanity in any way that I can. If I can find some semblance of inner peace, anyone can. I have found the power of caring for myself and I want to share that with as many people as I can. I know what it is like to struggle to the point of giving up and I don’t want anyone else to have to feel that hopelessness.”

Jeremy is a married father of two young girls and lives in rural British Columbia. He’s been in the broadcasting and podcasting business for about two decades. Jeremy is a certified REBT Mindset Life Coach.

His journey to wellness started later in life and he describes the first steps this way:
“One-morning several years ago I injured my knee in an attempt to quickly get out of bed to quiet my dog and keep him from waking my very young daughter. That injury led to physical therapy where I was told to get on a bike as much as possible or risk the damage to my knees that seems to be hereditary. I took the advice to heart and began bike commuting as much as possible.

That nine-mile trip took me on a much longer and more important journey. I found the chaos of surviving the ride to be somewhat therapeutic because I was forced to let everything go and focus on the moment or risk serious injury or worse.

Coincidence or not the next stop on my path to healing was a therapist’s office. There I learned to apply what I was learning on my bike to what became a semi-regular practice of meditation, experimentation with Yoga, and eventually a commitment to make a change.

The changes I’ve made and continue to make are small. I eat better, but not great. I exercise often but go easy on myself when I can’t or simply don’t want to. I meditate when I can quiet the voices telling me not to. I go to therapy…a lot.

I do all of these things in order to feel better physically and emotionally. I hope that sharing my journey from a knee injury to a lifetime of healing will help you feel a little less alone in your own journey…wherever that may lead you.”

  • Gary Scott Smith - Strength for the Fight: The Life and Faith of Jackie Robinson
About Strength for the Fight: The Life and Faith of Jackie Robinson

How faith sustained Jackie Robinson—both as an athlete and as an activist.

The integration of Major League Baseball in 1947 was a triumph. But it was also a fight. As the first Black major leaguer since the 1880s, Jackie Robinson knew he was not going to be welcomed into America’s pastime with open arms. Anticipating hostility, he promised Brooklyn Dodgers general manager Branch Rickey that he would “turn the other cheek” during his first years in the league, despite his fiercely competitive disposition. Robinson later said that his faith in God had sustained him—giving him the strength he needed to play the game he loved at the highest level without retaliating against the abuse inflicted upon him by opposing players and fans.

Faith was a key component of Robinson’s life, but not in the way we see it with many prominent Christian athletes today. Whereas the Tim Tebows and Clayton Kershaws of the sports world emphasize personal spirituality, Robinson found inspiration in the Bible’s teachings on human dignity and social justice. He grew up a devout Methodist (a heritage he shared with Branch Rickey) and identified with the theological convictions and social concerns of many of his fellow mainline Protestants—especially those of the Black church. While he humbly stated that he could not claim to be a deeply religious man, he spoke frequently in African American congregations and described a special affinity he and other Black Christians felt for the biblical character Job, who had also kept faith despite suffering and injustice. In his eulogy for Robinson, Jesse Jackson described Robinson as a “co-partner of God,” who lived out his faith in his civil rights activism, both during and after his baseball career.

Robinson’s faith will resonate with many Christians who believe, as he did, that “a person can be quite religious and at the same time militant in the defense of his ideals.” This religious biography of Robinson chronicles the important role of faith in his life, from his childhood to his groundbreaking baseball career through his transformative civil rights work, and, in the process, helps to humanize the man who has become a mythic figure in both sports history and American culture.
