I Am Refocused Radio

Thanks to the Internet and social media, more and more independent artists have risen to worldwide prominence through hard work, perseverance and grassroots promotion. One of those “superstars” is country/folk and Americana singer/songwriter, Luanne Hunt.

Throughout her illustrious career, the award-winning, four-time Grammy-balloted recording artist has built an impressive list of accomplishments, including scoring over twenty No. 1 hits on charts around the world, including New Music Weekly, Roots Music Report and the European Country Music Chart, to name a few.

She is best known for her chart-topping single, “Christmas Without You” (a.k.a. “Patsy Cline’s Lost Christmas Song”), which was named by Sweden’s largest daily newspaper, Dagens Nyheter, one of the Top 25 Christmas Songs of All-time.

Hunt, who was inducted into the Independent Superstars Country Music Hall of Fame in 2016, has been working hard at making quality music for twenty years. Her efforts paid off big time in 2007 when her CD, “Breaking Through,” produced two hit singles on U.S. and European Charts. The enchanting “Solace in The Wind” reached No. 1 on the European Country Music Association’s chart (Belgium) in July, 2010.

Additionally, the song landed on the 2009 Grammy ballot in two categories: Best Country Song and Best Female Country Performance. And it topped the Roots Music Report Folk Charts for twelve consecutive weeks in 2008.

Hunt began pursuing a professional music career in the mid-1990s. She found immediate success with her critically-acclaimed single “I Don’t Bother Counting,” which was frequently played on the former KIK FM country radio station in Orange County, California and on other stations throughout the Southwest.

Over the years, the Pennsylvania native has received numerous industry awards. Along with being a five-time Josie Music Awards nominee, Hunt is a six-time American Songwriting Awards winner and also is the recipient of three “CD of the Year” awards from the National Traditional Country Music Association (NTCMA).

He had battled cancer three times, each instance a formidable challenge. Initially struck with hip bone cancer, the ordeal left him disabled. Subsequently, he faced lung cancer, and then pancreatic cancer, the latter giving him a mere 5% chance of survival. Against daunting odds and the grim prognostications of five specialists, he embarked on a journey of mental fortitude, reshaping his outlook to believe in the possibility of overcoming cancer.

Now, two years free from the grip of the disease, he finds himself undergoing a groundbreaking three-part surgical intervention at the Mayo Clinic. This pioneering procedure involves the implantation of a custom titanium hip followed by a bone lengthening operation on the femur to regain the four inches lost to hip cancer.

In addition to his triumph over cancer, he has contributed to a recently published bestseller titled "Breaking the Silence: Voices of Survivors," a testament to resilience and perseverance. Originally hailing from the United States, he has traversed the globe, eventually finding a home in New Zealand seventeen years ago.

Primarily an IT professional by trade, fate led him to an unexpected partnership in the realm of entrepreneurship. A chance encounter at a boxing gym sparked the inception of a kettle corn business in a land where the snack was unheard of. What began modestly at weekend markets burgeoned into a thriving enterprise boasting two factories, a workforce of fifteen, and a diverse array of popcorn products.

Their market presence extended beyond New Zealand, reaching international shores in Singapore, Malaysia, and various South Pacific islands. Their brand stood proudly as the second most popular popcorn in New Zealand, a testament to their journey of trials, triumphs, and the lessons gleaned along the way.

While he may not yet have a podcast of his own, he embodies the qualities of an ideal guest. Eager to share his experiences and insights, he stands poised to inspire and uplift others within the community.

Shanti Hershenson’s first two novellas were published when she was in the sixth grade, although her writing journey started long before then. Ever since she could hold a pencil, marker, or crayon, she was creating stories. They started from pictures, mere scribbles, and eventually, turned into captivating tales.

She lives in California with her parents, sister, and furry friends. Besides writing, she enjoys skateboarding, Beyblading, free-running, falconry, and of course, reading.

She writes in a variety of genres, including Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Historical Fiction, although she mostly sticks to Sci-Fi.

She advocates for anti-bullying, and you may find her at open mic-nights, performing her spoken word poem Needles & Thorns, which is about the struggle of bullying in middle schools.

RLETTO created his stage name in an artist development class by combining the first letter of his name with his last name and adding an "O" at the end to let the name roll off the tongue a bit better. RLETTO took on band, choir and drama early in high school and then auditioned for Berklee College of Music, where he received a scholarship that granted him 75% of his four-year program. After graduating, he started to book large music festivals, music video shoots and recording sessions to establish a name for himself, all while saving money to move to Los Angeles. RLETTO has now been in L.A. since 2022 and has had the honor of working as a talent assistant for MTV Push, Cardi B, Lil Nas X, BET and more. RLETTO discovered his love for combining melodic rap and singing, which he is excited to bring to "The Voice."

Hometown: Barquisimeto, Lara, Venezuela

Resident: Miami, FL

Mafe was born and raised in Barquisimeto, Venezuela, where she enjoyed adventurous family trips and a musical environment. Later, her family moved to Margarita Island, but limited opportunities hindered her passion for singing. In 2017, the family made the life-changing decision to relocate to Miami. The transition to a new life in the U.S. was challenging for Mafe and her family, but joining a choir class provided a sense of belonging and helped her overcome language barriers. After graduating with an AA degree in music performance and jazz, Mafe took a year off to determine her path in music. She currently works two jobs and saves money for recording her original music. She enjoys cooking authentic Venezuelan dishes with her mom in her free time.
