Our listener asks, “My husband and I are currently attending

an Independent Baptist Church. We are both

saved by grace believers. I am struggling

with some of the things our pastor says.

He has said because Jesus had John baptize

him that it shows Jesus is Baptist. Another issue is the use of the Hebrews 10:25

about “not forsaking the assembly.” We do

not go to church regularly on Sunday. This

little church has 3 services on Sunday. 2 in

the morning and 1 at 4:00 PM. We don’t go to all of them. He will say things

like ‘It’s too much to make it to all the

services for some,’ and last week said one of

the older gentlemen that is always there

was sick and so was one of the families that

is always there was sick. They go to all the services. He said they

would be here if they weren’t sick. They are

faithful to the church attendance. Am I

wrong to say, but this seems like bullying. I

have been in a church where this happens. I also struggle with how there seems to be

no affection toward his wife. I have never

seen any type of loving affection in the years

we have attended. Should we be concerned?"
