In this episode, Jack is honoured to be joined by special guest Teddy Wilson of the excellent substack Radical Reports.  (Links below.)  Teddy has been closely studying the US far-right, including the sinister political pressure group that calls itself Moms for Liberty, one of the prime movers in the current reactionary cultural counter-revolution going on in America.  Teddy tells Jack all about it, going into detail about M4L's aims, methods, and connections.  He also tells Jack about the interactive visualisation tool he's created at Radical Reports for tracking M4L, their activities and interactions with other people and groups on the right.  Topics covered include M4L's links to the Republican Party including DeSantis in Florida, their ideological censorship movement to expunge school libraries of anything they don't like, their links to the Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers, etc.  Fascinating (if ominous) stuff.

Mapping Moms for Liberty - the interactive visualisation tracking tool

While Daniel and Jack continue working towards resumption of IDSG, Jack is once again invited by best-friend-of-the-pod Eiynah (@nicemangos of the Polite Conversations podcast) to co-host a Twitter space [obligatory Elon Musk joke here] about the new Barbie movie and the tsunami of reactionary tears it has invoked.  Conversation (with contributions from various guests) ranges over the movie itself and Barbie herself, Musk and X, Dutch politics, the culture wars, Ben Shapiro, Matt Walsh, Piers Morgan, and that weird guy on YouTube who dresses like a medieval knight.  Obviously, this being an X space (sigh), sound quality is variable.  

Our hiatus continues, owing to some real pain-in-the-ass stuff in what is jokingly called 'real life'.  Hopefully we are nearing the time when we can resume making new shows.  In the meantime, here's another old bonus episode to tide you over until our triumphant return.  In this one - originally recorded and released exclusively to Patreon subscribers in October 2021 - we discuss the 2008 movie Iron Man.

We're still working on getting back up and running so in the meantime, here's an old bonus episode.  This is our March 2022 discussion of Art Spiegelman's Maus, to go with our public episode from February 2022 about the McMinn County School Board in Tennessee removing the classic graphic novel about the Holocaust from the curriculum.  Sadly, this is relevant again because yet another school board - this time in Nixa, Missouri - has targeted the book.  It's not alone either.  Nor is Maus the only classic Holocaust text being targeted.  Ann Frank's diary is in the crosshairs of Mom's For Liberty.
