If that sounds strange to you, you haven’t paid much attention to the movement’s struggles with antisemitism, which exploded after the assassination of Charlie Kirk at a college speaking event last September. The guys reexamine the movie as an artifact that helped deliver the MAGA movement we see in 2026 and an example of conservatives' efforts at counter-programming against a dominant liberal culture.

In this intimate, two-handed edition of Posting Through It, Jared and Mike try to figure out whether the MAGA movement is actually faltering, as some news coverage would suggest. 

The short answer is yes: poll numbers are sagging, the economy is slumping, influencers are turning on one another, and the rhetoric has grown so absurd that less-online working people can no longer follow it. 

The more nuanced answer is that while the MAGA movement may be faltering, it could also be more dangerous than ever — precisely because of that chaos. The hosts close out the episode with a look at a corner of 4chan that serves as a "factory floor" for AI deepfake pornography.

They take a closer look at one online personality, Michael Tracey, to unpack this surreal and alarming trend.

Later, they’re joined by Ileana Justine, a journalist and content creator whose analysis of how Epstein and his powerful friends shaped the world millennial women were raised in recently went viral on Instagram and TikTok. These terms come from a terminally online subculture spun off of the so-called "manosphere" known as "looksmaxxing." It's hyper-focused on the shallowest dimension of masculinity: physical appearance.

Clavicular, the subculture's breakout star, has been popping up everywhere lately, including in The New York Times. But most of this discourse has overlooked the toxic roots of "looksmaxxing" and the misogynist ideology at its core.

Grassroots organizers have increasingly used the messaging app Signal to coordinate responses to MAGA authoritarianism. It remains the best messaging app available, but the “ICE Out” protests in Minneapolis demonstrated how regime propagandists and corrupt law enforcement can attack and exploit it. Influencers entered public-facing Signal chats and ferried the information there to Kash Patel’s FBI.

Midterm elections are approaching and early polling shows it's poised to be a bloodbath for the MAGA movement. But Americans may be in for a wild November, thanks to a crew of brain-rotted election denialists now working inside the US government. (One of them happens to be the president.)

Hunter Walker, an investigative reporter at Talking Points Memo, has been following the MAGA movement's efforts to upend American democracy for more than a decade. He joins Mike and Jared to talk about the Trump Administration's recent raid of an elections office in Fulton County, Georgia, and the wacky cast of characters who set it into motion. He warns listeners that we have to take efforts to undermine elections seriously, no matter how insane some of these people sound.

Remember to disinfect your “poisoned" sodas with a touch of alcohol, because Americans are likely to see elections come under direct threat this November.
