If Seinfeld was “a show about nothing,” here’s “a conversation about conversation.” Tales of office hours gone wrong, incorrect pronunciations, and even the secret disclosed as to why some people can converse while jogging and others cannot. Conversations that years later remain poignant and powerful, conversations of self-effacing confessions, conversations to connect to our best selves. Please join us for conversations to surprise and delight.
Principals, professors, poets, presidents, politicians, paralegals, paramedics, programmers… heck.. every person possesses these precious prizes: WORDS. What little kids learn and what all speakers speak. From “bedlam” to “balderdash” to which words on your belt buckle, we “use our words” to wonder and write and surprise and delight. Will you join us?
The euphoria of the win, the dismay of the defeat, the loyalty of teammates. Here, we discuss the teams we love to love, the Little League ‘Padres’, the Juggernaut, the Louisville Huggers, as well as the complicated science of scoring a cross country meet and the strategy of talking smack in German. What the great teams, military units, companies, and neighborhoods have in common - that we are all in this life together.
A brief message about the blessings of freedom, new citizens, taking a pause on a holiday, and most especially, singing a joyous and difficult anthem.
Distracting, pesky co-workers, some even with horns and hooves, mock interviews that (surprise!) turn out to be the real thing, and a child’s “vegetable” stand that sells invisible produce to the delight of all customers. Just a few stories to discover the joy in work, the people who teach and sustain us in our jobs, and most especially, how to laugh and grow as we make mistakes.
In the midst of flight cancelations, jet lag, lost bags, and border closings, do you ever wonder: Why do we travel? Maybe we travel to hitchhike lost unable to speak Italian, or bury French pizza on the ocean floor, or even find the only heart shaped hot tub in America. And maybe we travel just to come home.
More Mona Lisa than Kim Kardashian, more Taj Mahal than Trump Tower, more Jeopardy than Ellen’s Game of Games, the question has puzzled artists, playwrights, sculptors, architects, designers, comedians, philosophers, and shopping center developers. From the mountains of Idaho to the suburbs of Dallas, with classical music concerts and cross country races in between, we have a little salad on Super Bowl Sunday and try to answer what IS beauty?
Nashville stars we are not, but we will sing songs without the help of an auto-tuner. Songs about what made one American city famous and why you don’t mess with momma, as well as some stories about true love and gambling, scaredy-cat exterminators, and the joy of music, family, friends, and all the good stuff about life.
