Canadian journalist Jeremy Appel joins the show, and he let me indulge my perverse need to talk about Canadian politics as well as the news media up there (did I weasel a cheap shot at Winnipeg in there? Maaaaaaaybe). Eventually I let him talk a bit, and we got into how he would handle sharing both studio space AND a Slack with Bill Maher, before getting to Real Time season 2, episode 14. I'll be straight up: I hate Dana Rohrabacher, and he was on here, and I fucking hate him. And finally, shout out to Madonna, America's oldest woman.

REUPLOAD: Okay, beyond the normal fucked up audio that's in this episode, the first upload had literally no audio??? Fucking hell, man...

I'm not sure what happened with the audio this week, but all the files ended up fucked up in one way or another, so this episode suffers from being too quiet/not totally clear at various points. That stinks, because this was a fun one to do. It can still be listened to, I just try to have a standard that's a lot higher than this. Sorry I'm not PERFECT like YOU!!!!!

We talk about TV, his willingness to be kind to a stranger vs Bill Maher, and how much Bill Maher would he endure for someone he cares about. Then we get to the Real Time recap, and we get some real classic Real Time shit: a panel with no chemistry, Bill Maher being weirdly obsessed with something we can't imagine other people are bothered by, general casual homophobia, and we make the startling discovery that there may be an age appropriate woman that Bill Maher is horny for. Crazy, man. Crazy.

Hello everyone, I'm doing that thing where a podcast takes a bye week (every week is a "bi week" in my apartment, heh heh... ha... ha) and just posts one of its Patreon episodes. Genuinely, I feel like an asshole for doing it, but I'm insanely behind on all the podcast stuff and then earlier today I fucked my throat up in the most embarrassing way possible, so I'm just going to take it easy and maybe learn to chew my food more thoroughly, a thing that typically only babies need to learn. Next week's episode WILL BE UP ON WEDNESDAY, and my guest is Janie Haddad Tompkins. After that it's writer Harry Waksberg, and then journalist Jeremy Appel, unless of course I somehow manage to get even more rice lodged in my esophagus, in which case I will end the podcast and go live in the woods, where I will eat nothing but a thin paste made from grinding up plant roots and mud.

Due to exhaustion and the psychic toll of having your home city lose the equivalent of 2 1/2 Manhattans to wild fires, I really shit my pants on getting this episode ready and finally just accepted that I'd have to go this road alone and, well, here we are. It ended up being an absolutely brutal decision, because I was forced to endure that smarmy fuck David Frum all on my own. They were a great guest! They talk about their parents' longtime viewership of a guy they don't really agree with, and then we hypothesize about the weird audio issues that this episode of Real Time had. They were WEIRD, man. Also, the panel features an absolute world class asshole. Fuck man. Unbelievably annoying.

Just to get it out of the way, there is some mild mic cable rattling in this episode, I'm going to find a good solution to that so it stops happening. ANYWAY, fresh off of recording hjs album/special, comedian James Fritz was the show's SPECIAL GUEST this week, and it was nice to have an old Politically Incorrect head on the show. We talked about Bill Maher's foray into fiction, his weird homophobia, and also the saving grace that was Martin Short. Also, one of the show's worst ever guests appears once again to torment me, specifically.
