Elizabeth and Eatherley dive deep into what inspires them in their own craft; how they keep that creative inspiration alive; and how they have overcome limiting beliefs in their businesses.
Both have physically and creatively demanding careers and in the early years, got caught up in hustle culture that consumes the wedding industry. Learning how to work through challenges, getting the ego in check, and surrounding themselves with support has allowed them to work through the fear that comes with solopreneurship. Growing a capable team and being able to step back and trust the ebbs and flows of business has given them a community, more success, and the freedom they have always dreamed of.
Eatherley Schultz is the owner and head of operations at Floressence. She comes from a line of women, including her mother and grandmother, who found beauty and kinship in the garden space. Eatherley grew up in Birmingham, Alabama where her early love of gardening and horticulture eventually took her to central California where she studied agroecology and farming.
As a farmer, she grew organic vegetables and cut flower and later added landscape design to her skillset, a field that would influence her work and approach at Floressence. In North Carolina, she managed a 250-acre farm property for five years, and began a small floral business on the side. Eatherley felt compelled to pursue her floral design business full-time.
Floressence Flowers was born in 2010, out of Eatherley’s love of plants and nature, and her desire to use them as an artistic medium. Today, Floressence has executed hundreds of weddings and special events in Western North Carolina and beyond.
