Idling In The Impala | a ride through SPN fandom and fanfiction

Sandra and Karlee chatted with a fellow fan, Dani, and discussed the behind-the-scenes factors that create a show like Supernatural. In particular, they focused on directing and how certain choices reflected in the finished product. It was a fun peek behind the curtain.

Dean's House Rules - Driver picks the music, shotgun shuts his cakehole, and the ones in the back enjoy the ride... Idling in the Impala.

Supernatural has a special way of putting its fans through the emotional ringer. But don’t sweep aside its ability to have us rolling on the floor laughing. With that in mind, Sandra and Karlee met the task of picking their very favorite comic relief episode. As always, there’s a lot of discourse. And Sandra’s notes.

Sandra and Karlee had a fantastic conversation with fellow SPN FanFic Author BJ (AKA darali_starscream). BJ bestowed knowledge and thought-provoking opinions about the boys and the show. Riding the tide of tangents somehow led us all to agree on Dean wearing nothing but a frilly little apron embroidered with “God of Tits and Wine.” You’ll have to listen to find out how that came about.

Find BJ’s FanFiction on AO3. She loves feedback, so don’t be shy to kudos and/or comment.

Podfic Narration Time – “Sweet Sixteen” by Edge_of_Clairvoyance

Ready to get heartbroken and dive deep into John Winchester's parenting? Usually, there are other kinds of warnings before one of these narrations, but storytime is a little different this go round.

Edge_of_Clairvoyance reached out and asked if I would read one of their stories. I fell into all the feels and loved the writing of this particular pre-series gem.

Visit the story on AO3 here, and don’t forget to give it a kudo and comment!

Dean Winchester & John Winchester

Summary:

John was going slowly enough to get a glimpse of the hookers' faces. Some of them looked old and worn, and others looked no more than goddamned kids.

And then his heart gave a lurch in his chest and he nearly slammed on the brakes, remembering at the last moment to ease off so the car wouldn't veer. His hands trembled so badly he had to tighten his fingers on the wheel to keep them steady. He crawled along the curb, then slowed to a stop. The boy who had been standing there came around to the driver's side and leaned over the foggy window, one hand braced on the roof.

"Lookin' for company?"

Who else is in need of a laugh? Join Sandra and Karlee as they discuss some of their favorite comic relief characters in Supernatural. Whether they made a huge impression in only one episode or could always be relied on to lighten the mood when they appeared on screen, they are one of the reasons Supernatural was a joy to watch.

Sam Winchester/Castiel (Sastiel)

Summary:

Castiel was able to protect himself and Dean when Dick Roman exploded, but it weakened him badly, as did getting Kevin away from Crowley and back to the safety of his mother. When angels show up under orders from Naomi to bring Castiel in by whatever means necessary, a banishing sigil is the most effective way to get rid of them. If only it didn't mean banishing a weakened Castiel too. If only Sam had not been dragged along for the ride.

It’s been a rough and busy ride of late. Sit back and listen to Sandra and Karlee’s mixtape of Idling in the Impala outtakes. B Side will be out next week.
