For 10 years people have been playing golf at the Alderbrook Golf Course in Union to raise money for "Love In the Name of Christ of Mason County". Love INC acts as the conduit between Christian churches and their neighbors. They link church ministries and volunteers to people in need.

August is Overdose Awareness Month and there were two walks to shine the spotlight on this issue in Mason County. Through Mason County Community Services, hundreds of people gathered between Shelton and Belfair to talk, listen and raise awareness of this issue. There have been far too many overdose deaths in Mason County and in this report, Abe Gardner from Mason County Community Services, Mason County Commissioner Randy Neatherlin and Beau Bakken, Fire Chief at the North Mason Regional Fire Authority talk about it.
