People are often plagued with the thought they've truly committed the unpardonable sin. What kind of counsel do these people need? Should they be consoled and comforted, or should they be rebuked for pride and self-pity?
“Forever with the Lord”, those were Conrad’s words about his father Alvin when he passed in 1971. I heard him say it in a sermon, “forever with the Lord”; and now it applies to him. – Mack Tomlinson
In order to maintain church purity, those who profess to be Christians and are “sexually immoral or greedy, or an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or swindler” (1 Cor. 5:11) are excommunicated. Expelling them from fellowship with the church is not easy. However, biblically practicing church discipline must be done in order to obey Christ and keep the local church from being corrupted. It is not humility that tolerates sin. Paul tells those at Corinth it is arrogance that caused them to not remove the wicked person from among them.
If you're asked to define grace, do you put "power" in the definition? Many times the Bible connects grace with power when it's mentioned. Grace is vain unless it powerfully produces something. When we ask God for grace, we should be thinking about receiving power to be able to effectively serve Him.
