This week, I sit down for a very interesting and informative talk with Myrna Newman. Myrna is the Executive Director of an organization called Allegheny CleanWays. Allegheny CleanWay's mission is to help combat litter and illegal dumping throughout our city. They are a small (but mighty) group of individuals who go out everyday and clean up the endless illegal dumping sites filled with trash and old tires beyond all of our eyes can. Just in Allegheny County alone, Allegheny CleanWays has cleaned up and removed over 5.4 MILLION pounds of trash. Not to mention, over 41,000 old tires. I mean, can you even conceptualize that? This week, Myrna and I talk about it all. We talk about the implantation of recycling in Western Pa, the first time Myrna seen a teammate bring an individual water bottle to a track meet, the mission the good people at ACW are trying to accomplish, where these endless piles of trash end up, and so much more. If you love the city you live in and you want to get involved go to AlleghenyCleanWays.org for more info. Thanks for listening.
