There were a variety of new topics this week to discuss. Unfortunately, we sadly reported that another YOUNG life was lost in the Hip-Hop community. The 20-year-old rapper "XXXTentacion", whose real name was Jahseh Onfroy, was gunned down in an apparent robbery in Broward County, Florida. Authorities said he was leaving a motorsports store shortly before 4 p.m. when two men in a dark SUV shot and killed him. XXXTentacion spoke on his death before he was killed Monday. Check out what specifically he said and what the crew had to say - R.I.P.! In lighter news, Dr. Dre will be developing the Marvin Gaye movie. The film project is said to be in the early stages of planning, but the former N.W.A. star has secured the rights to Gaye's music. A number of stars, including directors F. Gary Gray and Cameron Crowe, and rocker Lenny Kravitz, have tried to develop films about the late singer in the past, but the projects never came to fruition. DRE always makin moves! Leave it to Beyoncé and Jay-Z to redefine what “pulling a Beyoncé” can be. Last Saturday, the pair headlined London Stadium as part of their joint On the Run II Tour, and at the end of their career-spanning set a message flashed on the screens: “ALBUM OUT NOW.” Everything Is Love, credited to The Carters, an exquisitely produced happy ending to the cheating-heart narrative that unspooled on Beyoncé’s gravity-defying 2016 album Lemonade and Jay-Z’s terse yet personal 2017 release 4:44. Seriousness stands out this week with some of the topics we discussed. The fashion world was rocked by news that designer Kate Spade was found dead in her New York parent Tuesday (June 5). A note was found inside the home, suggesting Spade committed suicide A housekeeper found the body of the 55-year-old fashion maven in her apartment on Park Avenue near E. 77th St. at about 10:20 a.m, police sources said. Spade hanged herself with a scarf, police sources said. Kate Spade New York has more than 140 retail shops around the U.S., and more than 175 elsewhere in the world. Spade, who was married to Andy Spade, sold off her popular company in 2007 to focus on raising her daughter. She made a return to fashion in 2016 with the launch of the Frances Valentine line - R.I.P. ‘Love & Hip Hop’ star Scrappy was cruising along early Sunday morning with a friend as they were leaving the King of Diamonds strip club in Miami. Scrappy believes his buddy fell asleep at the wheel, however cops list Scrappy as the driver in the crash. Either way … they slammed into a pole, totaling the car. Scrappy eventually came to at a hospital, but sources say he doesn’t remember who found him or how he got there. We’re told he is seriously injured, with a broken foot that needs to be operated on. We’re told his friend, Ca$ino, is in ICU...Scrappy is not. Grammy-nominated rapper J. Cole's childhood home was vandalized over the weekend, according to a photo that surfaced on Twitter. In the photo, the words "J. Cole...Do you even care about the ville" are spray painted on the Fayetteville home on Forest Hills Drive. Cole has said he intended to turn the 2014 Forest Hill Drives home into a rent-free shelter for single mothers and struggling families. The address was also the title of his third studio album, and he invited fans to the location for a meet and greet session. Got to be more careful! Physical appearance will reportedly no longer be a determining factor for Miss America contestants: The pageant will no longer feature a swimsuit or evening gown competition, in hopes of being more inclusive of women of all sizes. Instead of a swimsuit contest, contestants will participate in a live interactive session with the judges. In addition, contestants will have the opportunity to wear whatever they want in place of the evening gown and will discuss how they would advance their social-impact initiatives during this portion. We had some crazy situations that happened this week! Does Pusha T moonlight as a private investigator? Because that would explain a whole lot about "The Story of Adidon" a brutal dis track he released Tuesday night that escalated his years-long (and recently reignited) beef with Drake. On Friday, Pusha released his well-received, Kanye West-produced album “Daytona,” which notably uses an image of Whitney Houston’s drug-filled bathroom as cover art. The album’s last track, “Infrared,” revived the ghostwriting theory in the opening verse: “The lyric pennin’ equal the Trumps winnin’ / The bigger question is how the Russians did it / It was written like Nas, but it came from Quentin,” referring to rapper Quentin Miller. Basically, Pusha alleges Russians helped President Trump win the election just like ghostwriters supposedly helped Drake throughout his career. This situation seems like it's not going to stop anytime soon! We did discuss some other things though, lol. FOR EXAMPLE...Roseanne! Hours after essential calling former President Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett an ape, the network had finally seen and heard enough. ABC got Roseanne Barr’s racist ass out the paint! Barr’s name had been ringing since Tuesday morning (May 29) across social media after she tweeted the racist statement comparing Jarett to a character from the Planet of the Apes Find out more of what the crew had to say about this one. Happy B-Day Andre 3000! Three Stacks was in town celebrating his 43rd birthday and seen attending several BBQ events at Lake Merritt park. It’s the same spot where a white woman called the police on a black family having a barbecue last month, which led to a firestorm of national outrage and subsequent memes. On this weeks show, we discussed topics on awareness and victories. I big victory would be "Aubrey and the Three Amigos Tour". Drake is expected to drop his fifth studio album Scorpion prior to the start of the 41-date tour. Ticket sales begin May 18th and for those in the DMV, the tour will be here on Sept 12th & 13th. Get those tickets now! Another big victory, specifically for the DMV is local rapper "Q Da Fool" signing with Jay-Z's Roc Nation. The Maryland native is working hard on a new EP alongside Atlanta’s Zaytoven and wants to put the region on his back. Congrats homie!! On the awareness front, Spike Lee teams up with Jordan Peele for the funny, pointed, uneven BlacKkKlansman. Ron Stallworth, the first African-American police officer in Colorado Springs, Colo., works under cover to infiltrate the Ku Klux Klan in 1979. Stallworth and his partner Flip Zimmerman risk their lives to penetrate the KKK at its highest levels and is based on the book Black Klansman by Ron Stallworth. It is scheduled for release August 10, 2018 which is the one-year anniversary of the deadly Charlottesville, Va., white nationalist rally. We've got another one! This one here has definitely been on "meme" tour, lol. A woman called the police to report a Black family for barbecuing with charcoal in an area designated for gas grilling. As you might imagine, the rule is not heavily observed. This woman called the police on the family and then wept when they arrived, speaking about how she had been harassed by them. Thankfully, a member of the family recorded the woman calling the police before they arrived. So there was no discrepancy. As a result of this woman’s actions, she’s now become an official meme. Kelly's controversial perverted private life is to be explored in a new U.S. TV documentary series and movie. Last year the families of two young women, as well as his former associates, claimed the musician, real name Robert Kelly, had manipulated and "brainwashed" several women into controlling and abusive relationships. The 51-year-old's former girlfriend also alleged in a recent BBC documentary that he told her he had groomed a 14-year-old. Kelly, who was acquitted on child pornography charges in 2008, has repeatedly denied these allegations. Dapper Dan continues to flourish. Gucci has released a ready-to-wear capsule with the legendary tailor. The luxury fashion house has expanded on their partnership with Mr. Day with a new collection that is a nod to some of his most noted designs from his original run in the 1980's. Included are tracksuits, a sequence bomber, velour v neck sweaters and accessories that all feature Dan's signature touch of over the top embellishments. Just an hour after the rapper was released from a Chester, Pennsylvania prison, he was the guest of honor at the Philadelphia 76ers' playoff game against the Miami Heat. Thousands of his fans were on hand to greet the rap star, who was released from prison earlier today, after a five-month stay in prison for allegedly violating his probation in his 2008 drug and gun case. Now that he is free on unsecured bail, Meek and his lawyers are planning on getting his entire conviction tossed. Welcome back homie! Earlier this month, Rihanna excited her fans by sharing a cryptic Instagram post. Now, the pop superstar has revealed she was teasing her new lingerie line called Savage x Fenty. RiRi’s latest endeavor is scheduled to be released on May 11 via SavageX.com. The site currently display a countdown clock to the lingerie line’s release date. M&M's has released a new flavor just in time for summer and we're not sure how to feel about it. What is the new summer flavor? Drum roll...Orange Vanilla Cream AKA an orange creamsicle. This means Cardi passed Beyoncé for the most simultaneous songs on the tally by a solo female act. Drake holds the overall record with 24 entries, set in 2017. Cardi's got it on LOCK these days, congrats again! Kendrick Lamar has won a Pulitzer Prize for his album Damn. The award is given "for distinguished musical composition by an American." Kendrick's 2017 album becomes the first hip-hop record to win a Pulitzer Prize...DAMN! Talk about a pressure cooker! The pressure was on for Starbucks to do something in response to the incident last week where two Black patrons were asked to leave a Philadelphia location and were promptly arrested by police. With outrage and calls for boycotts high and low, the company will temporarily shut down 8.000 of its stores for racial bias training sessions nationwide. This has got to change FAST! Leave it to Beyoncé. The pop singer’s Coachella performance over the weekend has reportedly set a YouTube livestreaming record. Beyoncé's performance is set to generated 458,000 simultaneous viewers — the most ever for a single Coachella performance since YouTube began streaming the Indio, California festival in 2010. This is why she is and probably will be the Queen of entertainment...period. The pressure is surely also on DC cops! On Friday morning, on the steps of the National Museum of African American History and Culture, Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel E. Bowser announced that D.C. police officers will be required to take a critical-race-theory program. The training will take a day and comprises three parts: “a three-hour lecture on black history, a guided tour through the National Museum of African American History and Culture and a lesson on U Street, where officers examine police brutality.” The segment topic, as always, was one to make you think a little harder.
