Well, we finally did it: the obligatory quarantine podcast. This is a podcast in which four recent film grads struggle to find meaning and purpose... in the films they watch, of course. We'll keep an ... more

May 26, 2021Contact (1997) - The Race to KaneOnce again, I apologize for my (Caleb) audio in this one. I tried to spot check it and make it bearable, but it's annoying for sure. Anyways, that aside, we have a great episode for you today! Contact is yet another stop on our Journey to Citizen Kane, and it was a worthwhile one for sure. Later in the ep, Erik Wells joins us to choose next week's movie - Heat (1995) by way of William Fichtner. So far, the Sequence is this:Widows (2018) --(Robert Duvall)-->> Rambling Rose (1992) --(Diane Ladd)-->> Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore (1974) --(Jodie Foster) -->> Contact (1997) --(William Fichtner)-->> Heat (1995)Caleb: @caleb4tribe on Twitter and LetterboxdAlicia: @aliciadevero on Twitter and @aliciadev on LetterboxdArjun: @rjonfsicher on Twitter and @ArjunFischer on LetterboxdBrooke: @reesbrooke1 on Twitter and you can DM her for access to her notes app....more1h 46minPlay
May 26, 2021Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore (1974) - The Race to KaneI wonder- how did we end up with a smart ass podcast like this? We got pregnant (with the idea of one)! This week, we tackle Martin Scorsese's 1974 Romance/Comedy/Drama Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore. We all loved it, Alicia more than anyone- despite all of us being tired train-wrecks this week. Arjun, come back to us. The Race to Kane continues! So far, the Sequence is this:Widows (2018) --(Robert Duvall)-->> Rambling Rose (1992) --(Diane Ladd)-->> Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore (1974) --(Jodie Foster) -->> Contact (1997)Caleb: @caleb4tribe on Twitter and LetterboxdAlicia: @aliciadevero on Twitter and @aliciadev on LetterboxdArjun: @rjonfsicher on Twitter and @ArjunFischer on LetterboxdBrooke: @reesbrooke1 on Twitter and you can DM her for access to her notes app....more1h 8minPlay
May 12, 2021Rambling Rose (1991) - The Race to KaneGood. God. We watched this extremely odd movie so you don't have to. This is the second week in "The Race to Kane" wherein each week, a host will select a movie based off a filmography connection to someone in the last movie. Arjun gave Brooke Robert Duvall's filmography to pick from, and she chose... this. The 90s, man, the 90s, when Laura Dern could be jerked off by a 13 year old Lukas Haas and get an Oscar Nom for it. Very weird stuff. Thanks, Brooke. So far, the Sequence is this:Widows (2018) --(Robert Duvall)-->> Rambling Rose (1992) --(Diane Ladd)-->> Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore (1974)Caleb: @caleb4tribe on Twitter and LetterboxdAlicia: @aliciadevero on Twitter and @aliciadev on LetterboxdArjun: @rjonfsicher on Twitter and @ArjunFischer on LetterboxdBrooke: @reesbrooke1 on Twitter and you can DM her for access to her notes app....more1h 14minPlay
May 05, 2021Widows (2018) - The Race to KaneA New Series Has Begun! This week, we kick off "The Race to Kane" wherein each week, a host will select a movie based off a filmography connection to someone in the last movie. Our starting point? Arjun selected Widows (2018)! In this episode, we discuss how great it is, and Brooke reveals how wrong she is by hating it. And I mean hating it. No matter- Brooke gets to pick the next movie based on Arjun's chosen connector. Spoilers for the listen- Arjun selected Robert Duvall (as Brooke had never heard of him ?!), and Brooke selected Rambling Rose (1991) as the next movie we'll talk about. April 29, 2021Vibescast- Mamma Mia, Empty Man, Oscars & moreThe crew takes a step back this week and chooses to just hang out and talk about what they've been watching. We talk about how Brooke is a colonizer, Mamma Mia, The Warriors, Eric Rohmer, Signs, the Oscars, the Empty Man, Chronicle, Widows, Wes Anderson/The Grand Budapest Hotel, Splash, and more. April 21, 20212021 Oscars PreviewI know what you are all thinking: "People don't talk enough about the Oscars... what if my favorite group of non-experts weighed in on things they have no clue about and called it content?" Well folks, we work to please. Brooke is on hiatus this week, so Arjun, Alicia, and Caleb pontificate on this years Oscars for a whole episode. That is until Caleb and Alicia gang up and bully Arjun enough to where he leaves. Such is the pod. April 14, 2021shiva babyOH NO! We have a very special guest on today, the one-of-a-kind Anna Campion, host of Oh No! with Anna Campion. She joins the crew to discuss a new film that instantly shot up to her top 5 films of all time, Shiva Baby. April 07, 2021bringing out the dead vs. raising arizonaWe're off the rails with this one. After a brief hiatus and without Caleb, the crew returns to Cage March. Except it's not March, and we didn't talk about Nic Cage for about half of the episode. That attention went to one Mr. Kong and another Mr. Godzilla. It's a wacky chaotic episode, a fitting way to end the Cage marathon (if indeed this is the end). March 24, 2021adaptation vs. leaving las vegasThis week on Cage March, the crew pits Nic Cage's 2 Oscar Nominated performances against each other. Adaptation is one of Arjun's favorite movies, so he's psyched to chat about it. Alicia defends Leaving Las Vegas (she takes an adamantly pro-Boozy tits stance). Devin keeps us grounded as always. Brooke is somewhere in the ether. Good episode as always. March 17, 2021moonstruck vs. valley girlCage March marches on as the crew (minus an Arjun, plus an Erik) tackles Romantic Comedy Cage. The paring starts with Valley Girl, an LA teen rom-com featuring Nic Cage's 1983 breakout role as Randy, an alt-punk God. The other film is Moonstruck, Cage & Cher's 1987 outsized Italian American Rom-Com that gave Cher her Oscar and features a Cage at a crucial apex between young hot boy Cage and the crazy Cage we know and love. This episode also feature's Alicia's roommate Emma, so that's cool.Caleb: @caleb4tribe on Twitter and LetterboxdAlicia: @aliciadevero on Twitter and @aliciadev on LetterboxdArjun: @rjonfsicher on Twitter and @ArjunFischer on LetterboxdBrooke: @reesbrooke1 on Twitter and you can DM her for access to her notes app.Erik: @erikwhales on Twitter and @feverdog on Letterboxd...more1h 40minPlay
