  • Ep18 - Combo of polymers and nanoparticles to remove drug waste from our water supply using sunlight!

In this lit update, we are discussing research from Tsinghua University, and Guangdong University of Technology. Polymers were combined with TiO2 nanoparticles – this combination was shown to break down molecules when exposed to sunlight, and can be used for removing pharmaceuticals that are found in our water supply.

Why are there pharmaceuticals in our water?? we discuss that too!!

  • LIT UPDATE - Gecko and frog toes' inspired nano adhesives

Summer's here and that means insects are out and about, including geckos and frogs. Even though they can be annoying, they are marvelous creatures that can defy gravity by sticking on walls, sometimes even holding themselves upside down just by using their toes! Can we make something that can help us defy gravity, and potentially make Spiderman a reality? Learn all about how scientists from The Institute of Technological Science in Wuhan University make nano adhesives inspired by geckos' and frogs' toes!

  • LIT UPDATE - Making graphene from trash...and in a flash!!

In today's lit update, we discuss exciting research that has shown to make graphene in 0.01 seconds!! So fast!! The other amazing thing about this is the graphene can be made from pellets that come from garbage! Such as used water bottles and tires, to various other sources of food wastes. As long as the source has carbon, it can be made into graphene using this technique! Truly incredible science and engineering. We want to make graphene quickly and in large amounts so that company's can use it. Let's learn more, together!
