  • Seeing me as He does
    June 6th, 2021
“The greatest changes in our lives take place When we see ourselves as God sees us.”
“Jesus was going through the city of Jericho. A man was there named Zacchaeus, who was the chief tax collector and he was wealthy. He wanted to see who Jesus was, but he was too short to see above the crowd he ran ahead to a place where Jesus would come and he climbed a sycamore tree so he could see Him.” Luke 19:1-4
    1. JESUS SEES ME, NO MATTER HOW I FEEL ABOUT ME
“Jesus got to the tree, He looked up…” Luke 19:5
“God never overlooks a single sparrow. And He pays even greater attention to you, down to the last detail – even numbering the hairs on your head!” Luke 12:6-7
    2. JESUS LOVES ME, NO MATTER WHAT OTHERS SAY OR THINK ABOUT ME
Jesus looked up at Zacchaeus and called him by name ‘Zacchaeus!’ He said.” Luke 19:5b
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so that we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.” Eph. 2:10
    3. JESUS LOVES ME, NO MATTER WHAT I’VE DONE
“… He said, ‘Come down quickly! For I am going to be a guest in your home today!” Luke 19:5c
“All the people saw this and began to complain, ‘Jesus is staying with a sinner!’” Luke 19:7
“Jesus said, ‘those the Father has given Me will come to Me, and I will never reject them.” John 8:37
How should I respond to Jesus today?
“So he came down at once and received Him with joy.” Luke 19:8
    The Result
“Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, ‘I’ll give half of my possessions to the poor. And if I’ve cheated anyone, I’ll give them back four times the amount.’ Jesus responded, ‘Salvation has come to this home today!’”Luke 19:8-9

  • Hope Builds Godly Kids
    Parenting is difficult
    1. What Kids need:
    God confidenceGodly characterGodly conviction
    2. What Parents need:
BeliefBelief, in the power of being a Godly parentBelief, that you are the greatest influence on your kid/not culture.
“Children are a gift from the Lord they are a reward from Him. How happy is the man ,how happy is the woman, how happy is the family, whose quiver is full of them.”Psalm 127
“He took a little child and had him stand among them. Taking him in His arms He said to them, ‘Whoever welcomes one of these little children in My name welcomes Me doesn’t just welcome Me but the one who sent Me.” Mark 9 :36
    3. WHAT IS YOUR OBJECTIVE IN RAISNG YOUR KIDS OR GRANDKIDS ?
    GOOD AND MORAL VS. GODLY
The gospel is not about making bad people moral, It is about making dead people alive.Point: We end up teaching the wrong thing because we have the wrong objectives.Question to ponder:Do you teach your kids to be good because of the bible?Do you teach your kids that they will never be good without Christ’s offer of grace
“What we need is kids who fully grasp the reality that they have nothing to offer, but know a God who has everything they need
Have we blown it? Have I mixed in a little bit of God, what now?
Clarify your parenting goalsdo you want to raise fully devoted followers of Jesus? really?Adopt a theology of life ChangeGod came to make dead kids live, not good
Help your Kids fall in Love with Jesushey will only go as far as you areTeach your kids to submit to God as you do everydayGoal of being a follower of Jesus is to make His name great, not mine, not my happiness
    4. Ask Jesus to help you control your anger
“A fool gives full vent to his anger, but a wise man keeps himself under control.”Prov. 29:11
“Be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry.”James 1:19
“A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” Pr. 15:1
“Do not use harmful words in talking. Use only helpful words, the kind that build up and provide What is needed” Ephesians 4:29
