Impact!

With Pride Month now in full swing, in this week’s Impact! we celebrate the many positive stories of progress toward tolerance and equality for LGBTQ+ people in many countries, while acknowledging the rollbacks being faced by others. We ask what is pride, as Clive explains why it’s become especially important and meaningful for him. And as always, we take a look at where we might hone in with our intentions and prayers.

Intentions and prayers start at 27 minutes 19 seconds.

Suggested Intention Focus for this week

This week, as we mark Pride Month, we suggest holding as our main intention:

We give thanks for the many recent examples of progress and resistance to rollbacks against LGBTQ+ people’s rights, and will that these will serve to motivate continued movement toward full equality and acceptance of non-binary people in all societies.

Please join us in holding this.

Remigration, the policy of deporting individuals based on their assessed right to live in a country, is increasingly being framed in the rhetoric of populist parties in Europe and North America. For some, it can be taken as a code word for targeting people based on ethnicity who aren’t seen by those detaining and deporting them as fitting their view of what is to be a fellow citizen based on race or appearance. A number of those who maintain this view subscribe to the “Great Replacement” theory, that suggests white populations in some populations are being deliberately targeted by immigration aimed at replacing them. Calls for remigration are increasingly being heard in the public space, while much of what is happening behind closed doors, some potentially influenced or funded by governments, remains unknown beyond occasional reports that hint at policies that come close to crossing the line of “normal” migration controls. In this episode, we take a look at this disturbing possibility, as always turning to see where our prayers and intentions may be needed.

Suggested Intention Focus for this week

This week, as we reflect on the disturbing rise in support for remigration in the US and Europe, we suggest holding as our main intention:

We will that the voices of far-right advocates in support of remigration will be balanced by clear warnings to people to recognize and resist its potential shaping of mainstream political policy, eroding of asylum protections, and expanding the space for governments to favor mass deportation over considerate and dignified treatment of all people, including those seeking asylum.

Please join us in holding this.

Intentions and prayers start at 31 minutes 02 seconds.

Following our look at Brits’ perceptions of life Stateside last week, in this episode Ellen puts Clive on the spot to find out if common American views of the Brits really stack up in practice. We get behind the myths and the mysteries, and uncover some surprising truths. Do we really get lost in the great trans-Atlantic divide, or do we have more in common than we realize? Fasten your seat-belts as, 10 years on from the Brexit referendum, we take a look at everything from what on earth goes on inside the British Parliament, to whether Britain is actually a country, and what’s this crazy thing about lawyers wearing wigs? All this and much more in this week’s Impact!

You can listen to our episode last week, What we really think about each other: Part 1–Brit Takes on Americans at https://www.podbean.com/ew/pb-3mv68-1ad3ebe

Suggested Intention Focus for this week

This week, as we’ve reflected on American perceptions of the British, we suggest holding as our main intention:

We will that all Americans whose views of their allies may be biased by news, social media and social group misconceptions, will seek to understand the truth of what really happens across the pond, and especially where such conceptions offer a negative or potentially harmful “othering” of Britons and Europeans.

As both the USA and UK approach important anniversaries in the coming weeks–250 years of independence from Britain stateside, and 10 years on from the decision to go independent from Europe on the UK side of the pond–this week, we check out what we think of each other. This week, Ellen is our eyes on the ground stateside as our eyes on the ground as Clive seeks to see whether ideas that many Britons hold about life in the USA are really true. Fasten your seat belts, as we cover a lot of ground–everything from what it’s like to be sick and poor, to a love for trademarks, to whether there’s still strong support for capital punishment. As we know, getting to the truth is important when setting intentions around what’s going on in the news. Yet, even in the perceptions we hold ourselves about what we think we do know, we can often be mistaken. We seek to get to the bottom of which have grounding, and which are mere myths! If you’re not an American, and maybe too if you are, be ready to be surprised by what you may learn. Part two, considering what Americans think of the British, comes next week.

Suggested Intention Focus for this week

This week, as we’ve reflected on British perceptions of Americans, we suggest holding as our main intention:

We will that all Britons whose views of their allies may be biased by news, social media and social group misconceptions, will seek to understand the truth of what really happens across the pond, and especially where such conceptions offer a negative or potentially harmful “othering” of American people.

Taking time for self-care and releasing anything that doesn’t serve us is something that’s well known to virtually all you take part in energy and intention work. Yet, sometimes we need a strong reminder as to why this is necessary. In this episode, we take a deep dive into the practice-within-a-practice of offering ourselves self-care. We discuss practices like Tonglen, heart-brain coherence, self-protection, and conclude with a guided approach to clear energy at the end of an intention session that may help you on your way.

Suggested Intention Focus for this week

This week, as we reflect on the necessity of self-care when engaging in intense prayer and intention holding, we suggest holding as our main intention:

I resolve to always take time to release energies that don’t serve me when completing my intention practice, remembering to take care of myself. I recognise that this isn’t a selfish action, but necessary not only for my own wellbeing, but so that I may continue to remain strong and effective in my intention holding for others.

Please join us in holding this.

The guided clearing process for closing your practice starts at  22 minutes 10 seconds.

This week we turn our attention to a situation that just a few years ago, would have dominated world headlines and moved the world to action, yet today is hardly mentioned by the world’s news media–the devastating humanitarian crisis in Somalia, where over 6 million people are facing acute food insecurity. We take a look at the human impacts—widespread displacement, child malnutrition, school closures, water shortages, and increased risks to women and girls—and outline current humanitarian responses, funding shortfalls, and the role of climate change. As always, we then turn to see where we might focus our intentions and prayers.

Intentions and prayers start at 15 minutes 59 seconds.

Suggested Intention Focus for this week

This week, as we reflect on the mass humanitarian crisis that’s occurring in Somalia as a result of prolonged drought, we suggest holding as our main intention:

We will that all Somalis will be guided in the impossible decisions they must take each day, between skipping meals, drinking from unclean water sources, consuming seed stocks meant for future planting, and selling off any remaining assets.

This episode investigates the disturbing phenomenon called "Rape Academy": clandestine online communities where men share tips, videos, and tactics for drugging and sexually abusing women, often their partners. We discuss insights gained through investigative reporting, the role of technology platforms and regulation failures, and seek to understand where our prayers and intentions may be best focused in our silent activism against the abuse that too many women are facing and continue to be traumatized by.

Please note that this episode describes subject matter that may disturb some listeners.

Intentions and prayers start at 22 minutes 25 seconds.

This week, as we reflect on the deeply concerning existence of Rape Academy and the mass abuse that this supports, we suggest holding as our main intention:

We will that all women who have been or may be drugged, assaulted or abused for the sexual pleasure or profit of men are held in light and given the voice and support that they need.

Please join us in holding this.

As World Labyrinth Day approaches, this episode explores the history and universal appeal of labyrinths, explains how they are used for meditation and healing, and introduces Contemplative Labyrinth Activism—the practice of using shared heart-centred intention to support social and global change. We offer a short heart–brain coherence practice, along with a suggested intention we might all hold when "walking as one at one."

Our guided heart-brain meditation and suggested shared intention starts at 38 minutes 13 seconds.

As we reflect on the power of holding collective intention with the labyrinth, we suggest holding as our main intention and as a collective intention for this World Labyrinth Day and its theme of willing for world peace:

We will that the hearts and minds of those who are searching for a way to resolve international differences are moved by compassion.

Please join us in holding this, whether or not you may be walking a labyrinth this weekend.

On Earth Day 2026, this episode explores the vast reach of plastic pollution — from beaches and deep-sea trenches to our drinking water and even human bodies — and how plastics and climate change form a linked crisis. Moves toward achieving a workable global treaty committing to measures to avoid polluting the ocean and reducing plastic use stalled close to two years ago. Meantime, a growing awareness of the link between plastic disposal and climate change as a lifecycle highlight the urgency to address the problem. Yet, few seem to be taking note. We look at actions we can take at the grassroots level and as always, see where our intentions and prayers may be most needed.

Intentions and prayers begin at 24 minutes 17 seconds.

Suggested Intention Focus for this week

This week, as we reflect on the mounting, multiple impacts of plastic pollution on the environment, animals, human health, and climate change, we suggest holding as our main intention:

We will that the media and other voices with influence will bring about a mass public awareness of the link between plastic waste and climate change, moving individuals to redouble their efforts to reduce and properly dispose of waste.

Please join us in holding this.

With such a fast-changing situation in the Gulf, and the rhetoric coming from the White House changing at breathtaking speed, how can we hold specific prayers and intentions for what is unfolding there and its implications–beyond our immediate responses to the issues of the moment? This is our focus for this edition of Impact! We quickly turn to suggesting specific intentions that are more ongoing rather than generalised as broad requests, such as desiring for lasting peace and a resolution to the deep divisions between Iranian and US/Israeli demands. The episode outlines immediate and mid‑ to long‑term concerns—displacement, economic ripple effects, and humanitarian needs—and offers short guided intentions listeners can use to pray for mercy, wisdom, protection, and fair post‑conflict governance whatever particular headlines are shifting our attention day-to-day.

Intention and prayers start at 16 minutes 5 seconds.

Suggested Intention Focus for this week

This week, as we reflect on how we can pray for what is a constantly changing situation in the Gulf, we suggest offering pure lovingkindness as our main intention:

We will that all beings who are prosecuting war in the Gulf, or who are directly impacted by such actions, will be bathed in pure, compassionate light.

Please join us in holding this.

Specific intentions we suggest holding are follows:

We ask for an outflowing of mercy for all who are suffering because of the conflict in the Gulf, for them to know and have reassurance of divine promise, whatever their physical suffering and loss.

We will that those living under threat of attack have courage and wisdom to know how best to protect themselves and their loved ones.

We pray for wisdom for leaders, diplomats and military decision‑makers, including international actors who may exert influence either within or beyond the public domain, and also for those whose national security is directly threatened by the conflict, especially in the Arabian Peninsula and Lebanon.

We ask for wisdom for those seeking to mediate a path to a just, durable peace across the wider Middle East. We will that those who come to such talks do so with a resolve to find such a peace and with an open readiness to truth‑telling and having the courage to choose a non‑violent path.

We ask for those seeking and implementing post-conflict arrangements to will for fair and sound governance, to implement what is agreed, and to commit to staying that course.

We will that the wounded, bereaved and traumatised in the Gulf receive comfort, healing and the practical help they need.

We pray that refugees displaced by the conflict will be held in protective light, welcomed and supported in their host communities.

We ask that there will be a will among Gulf nations to resist a move to draconian restrictions on free speech and civil freedoms under a pretext of tightening domestic security.

We pray for wisdom and courage for those in military, including both those who are required to obey orders, and those having to give orders that may not sit well with their consciences.

We ask that we receive the strength to stay strong when we are troubled by the news, inviting compassion and being mindful that through our prayers and intentions, we do have impact.

Of course, add to these as you feel led. We believe most of these are ongoing issues beyond the day-to-day events that we may wish to respond to spontaneously.
