Impact!

A major flashpoint in central Asia that’s escaped the world headlines given what’s been happening in the Gulf is our focus for this week’s episode of Impact!, as we consider the long running dispute between Pakistan and Afghanistan that has flared significantly during recent weeks. We look at the widescale humanitarian crisis this has provoked and a dangerous time of cross-border militancy and border militarization. As important talks continue in talks in Urumqi, we understand a little of the background to what has happened and what prospects exist for peace. As always, please join us in holding intentions and offering prayers for the issues that arise.

Intentions and prayers start at 14 minutes 6 seconds.

Suggested Intention Focus for this week

This week, as we reflect on the tense stand-off between Pakistan and Afghanistan, we suggest holding as our main intention:

We will that those gathering for talks in Urumqi will be moved to seek a permanent peace, even if this may involve compromising on their preferred policies.

Please join us in holding this.

As we start a new quarter, Global Healing Response turns its attention to the vital need each of us have to stay anchored, especially during turbulent time. In this week’s episode, we ask what anchoring means, and suggest ways for making this a regular practice. We also offer a guided meditation for anchoring yourself when your time is scarce, starting at 14 minutes 18 seconds.

Remember, to share in the show's Facebook group what keeps you anchored. We'd love to hear what works for you!

Suggested intention focus for this week

This week, as we reflect on the vital task of anchoring ourselves, we suggest holding as our main intention:

I resolve to always pause when the busyness of the world conspires to overwhelm me, to re-anchor and know that I am always grounded in the depth of my being.

Please join us in holding this.

Ellen brings out her Wonder Woman powers to bring about a change in Clive’s take on a vital question for intention work–should we seek to change the collective unconscious? In this week’s episode, we talk about what this universal field actually is and how it relates to common theories to the well-known teaching of psychologist Carl Jung, before turning attention to the key question–can and should we consciously seek to impact it? If the answer is yes, it may be that where matters like wiping the slate clean on collective beliefs about gender equality, the question is then not so much about should we, but becomes an imperative that we must. Using gender equality as a practical focus, we explore the importance for mindful, non-controlling intentions aimed at the highest good, exercising energetic responsibility as a way to contribute positively to the collective.

Suggested intention focus for this week:

I will for gender equality every day, every moment, until I die.

Please join us in holding this.

In this episode Ellen interviews Clive to celebrate the release of his new book, Immersive Prayer: The Power to Change Ourselves and Change our World, and explore how intention, interfaith teachings, and scientific research converge to deepen prayer and collective healing.

They discuss embodied practice over ritual, heart‑mind connection, practical tools for staying grounded, and the role of contemplative activism in our own spiritual journeys. Clive describes how prayer takes on a meaning closer to "living in Spirit" when we recognise and invite a partnership with the divinity within us, and touches on where prayer and intention holding come together. All-in-all, he suggests that holding intention–and praying–not only has impact on ourselves and others, but bring us closer on our spiritual paths to being fully connected with the Divine.

As delegates meet at the UN  for the 70th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women, the state of equality for many women in the world remains dire. The World Economic Forum’s 2025 Global Gender Gap Index shows the world at about 69% of the way to achieving gender parity, and at the current trend, needing a staggering 123 years for full equality to be achieved. Few countries are moving forward at a pace, with analysis carried out ahead of this year’s Commission on the Status of Women warning that women’s rights are regressing in many contexts, as laws have been reshaped to restrict women’s freedoms, silence their voices and allow abuse without consequence. In this week’s episode we take stock of the huge gap for women achieving equality and fair access to justice, seeing where we may hone in with our intentions and prayers. We explore what’s behind the global backsliding, including legal barriers and threats from restrictive laws and technology, and in a specific case that will resonate with many of our listeners, assess the disproportionate impact on women inherent in the SAVE Act legislation currently being proposed in the USA.

Intentions and prayers start at 25 minutes 16 seconds.

Suggested Intention Focus for this week

This week, as we reflect on the reversal of moves toward women achieving equality with men in many countries, we suggest holding as our main intention:

We will that all who have influence within UN member nation governments and their justice systems to implement and uphold equality protections will be moved and guided by the pleas of UN Women to ensure and strengthen access to justice for all women and girls.

Please join us in holding this.

After nearly 3 years of civil war, with millions starving and what many commentators say is the world’s greatest humanitarian crisis escalating hourly–in this week’s Impact! we take stock of the current situation and hopes for peace in Sudan and see where our prayers and intentions may be most needed.

Prayers and intentions start at 16 minutes 11 seconds.

Suggested Intention Focus for this week

This week, as we reflect upon the nearly 3-year-old civil war and devastating humanitarian crisis in Sudan, we suggest holding as our main intention:

We will that wisdom and compassion will prevail among the leadership and influencers of both the Sudanese Armed Forces and Rapid Support Forces to work toward a compromise or other peaceful solution that prioritises the highest good of all people in Sudan.

In an inspiring episode, Clive talks to Anton Jarrod, host of the deeply thoughtful podcast The Higher Self Dialogues. Anton helps us understand what the Higher Self is, how it may relate to concepts such as the soul, Source and authentic self, and what role it may play in intercession and intention holding. We reflect on the podcast’s fascinating exploration of the perspective the Higher Self may take into some of the big issues of the day, such as whether AI may help or hinder humanity’s awakening, and what is really driving the immigration crisis. And we reflect upon the fundamental question–what actually is the self?

With its invitation for those of us who are on the spiritual journey to share in the ongoing enquiry into who we really are, where are we going, and what impact do we have in our world, giving space that might allow our Higher Self to be heard is something that we might each wish to give attention to. And, crucially, we see that tuning into a Higher Self perspective can shift how we respond to personal and global issues.

Anton’s wonderful offerings provide great inspiration and companionship for this enquiry. Find out more, subscribe to and listen to episodes of The Higher Self Dialogues podcast at https://higherselfdialogues.com/, and discover Anton’s work and services and sign up to his newsletter at: https://antonjarrod.com/.

As news breaks of the much-threatened US/Israel-Iran military action now put into action, we turn attention to where our prayers and intentions may be most needed. At the time of recording, the U.S. and Israel have launched what is being described as a major attack on Iran, targeting a large number of sites across the country. Iran has responded with an attack on the US fleet headquarters in Bahrain, and firing missiles into northern Israel. Its Foreign Ministry issued a defiant statement, saying that the country “will not hesitate” in its response. Explosions have also been heard in Qatar and Kuwait, while both Hezbollah in Lebanon have threatened to respond in defence of Iran, provoking potential new conflict with Israel, Iranian-backed Houthis in Yemen have vowed to resume attacks on Red Sea shipping routes. The scale of casualties isn’t currently known. In this episode, rather than offering our usual deep dive to understand the background to a topic, we move quickly to offer suggested prayers and intentions. This emergency episode offers immediate intention and prayer points for those affected and for leaders who can de-escalate the situation.

This week we unpack the complex and often fraught relationship between South Korea and Japan — tracing historical grievances from Japan's colonial rule and wartime abuses, key disputes like comfort women, forced labor rulings, and over the Dokdo/Takeshima islands, and recent diplomatic steps toward cooperation. At a time when North Korea is building up its nuclear arsenal and China has responded with fury to Japan’s indication of support in the event of invasion of Taiwan, this cooperation has perhaps never before been more needed for ensuring stability in the Indo-Pacific region as a whole. The U.S. is watching closely, expecting its allies to play a greater part in protecting their own security.

Intentions and prayers start at 20 minutes 23 seconds.

Suggested Intention Focus for this week

This week, as we contemplate the uneasy but essential relationship between South Korea and Japan for maintaining peace in the wider Indo-Pacific region, we suggest holding as our main intention:

We will that the peoples of South Korea and Japan will be moved to exchange friendship to each other on all levels, including through cultural exchange and having an honest and respectful appreciation of each other’s history.

Please join us in holding this.

In an inspiring and very enlightening episode, Clive talks to former monk, writer and Transcendental Meditation (TM) teacher Mark Heath, about how we can direct and maintain attention to what serves us, rather than what doesn't. Drawing on teachings from Mark's new book, 'Aligned: From Distraction to Direction,' we explore how we may stop our focus from being hijacked to direct attention where we want to have impact. With insights from neuroscience, psychology and biology, we learn why human beings are predisposed to being distracted, and understand how we might reframe our focus, reduce distraction, and bring more flow and balance into our daily lives. Mark is one of Clive's teachers, introducing him to TM more than 20 years ago. He lived in a monastic community for many years, before returning to the UK, where he now runs Brighton's TM Centre.

Mark's book, 'Aligned: From Distraction to Direction — Practical Neuroscience for Focus and Flow,' is available in both paperback and ebook editions from Amazon and other bookstores.
