This is all great advice when we are angry, upset, or overwhelmed.  But how easy is it to execute any of these?  For some, it is definitely easier than others.  Something we all have in common as imperfect parents is that we get angry.  And we all lose our cool now and then, some more than others (raising hand over here).  Be encouraged that you are not alone and that God has the strength you need to get through this moment, this day.

Although saying "No" to our kids is necessary, it is rarely fun or easy.  Some days it is exhausting and it's easier to just give in and loosen the boundaries.  Oftentimes, I regret doing that though.  How about you?  How do we train kids to appreciate the "Yeses" when they get them and accept the times when they don't?  If you have the answer, please let me know.  Meanwhile, I'll be over here parenting imperfectly, going to my knees in prayer first, and asking God for help and forgiveness (not necessarily in that order).

Weekly Recipe from Just a Pinch

Fried Cornbread (AKA Hoe Cakes)

If you wish you had some easy cornbread to whip up to go with your chili or whatever you prefer it with, this is the recipe for you!  I fried them in a cast-iron skillet with coconut oil and they came out tremendous!  All of my family loved them and have already asked for them again.  We put a little bit of butter and honey on top and they were perfect.  My husband just submerged them in his chili and was happy.  Enjoy them your way!

Hang out with me and my friends, Hannah and Kristy, this week as we have an honest discussion about the struggles we have with our kids and electronics.  It's a little bit longer than most of my podcasts because when moms get together, we like to chat.  Well, we actually chatted longer than my software would record so it ends fairly abruptly, but I think there is such good, solid material here that we can all relate to and I hope you find it helpful and encouraging to know that you are not alone in this difficult aspect of parenting.  Be sure to listen all the way to the end where I list some of the ideas we came up with for helping our kids learn healthy boundaries.

Chia Pudding

1 cup of your favorite milk

2 tablespoons of chia seeds

1 teaspoon of maple syrup

a dash of pure vanilla extract

any preferred mix-ins

Mix it all together in a mason jar.  Put the cover on and give it a shake.  Put it in the fridge and shake it every 3 minutes until it is nice and thick (don't skip the shaking or all the seeds will be at the bottom and it won't be as delicious).  Grab a spoon and enjoy!
