Bias is, in short, the propensity to choose something, over something else, not because of reason, but because of values, beliefs, and emotions. Emotions are, from What I've noticed, the biggest causes of bias. Seeing and nameing your emotions is one easy way of avoiding becoming too bias, but it is by no means foolproof.
