In celebration of Earth Month, the Imua Podcast will be hosting the podcast Intersections, produced by 'Iolani student Audrey Lin '25. Intersections strives to examine the interdisciplinary and intergenerational workings of the globe’s fight to stop climate change by by “talking story” with leaders who are in the sustainability space in a variety of sectors: from business to sciences, from arts to the humanities.
Today, we are featuring John Leong, who was born, raised, and still serves in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi. He has helped vitalize Hawai'i's green jobs industry through his position as the co-founder and CEO of Pono Pacific and the non-profit Kupu. In 2019, he was named one of twenty Obama Foundation Fellows.
As you listen to this podcast, keep an ear out for Mr Leong’s embodiment of the “intersectionality” that this podcast is all about. Though much of his work revolves around eco-entrepreneurship, in this podcast, he also touches upon his background in conservation and business, with his belief in youth advocacy, cultural education, and his faith.
