Episode 130: In Conversation with Ivan Doroschuk of Men Without Hats

Once again, Brian and Sarah are taking a detour from publishing the episodes everyone is expecting, but they have an extremely good reason this time-- they're absolutely delighted to welcome founder and lead singer of Men Without Hats, Ivan Doroschuk, to the Permanent Record Podcast!

If you've listened to the podcast for a while, you'll know that Brian has mentioned many times how important Men Without Hats and their first album, Rhythm of Youth, were to the formation of his musical tastes; Sarah is also a longtime fan of the group.

The conversation starts off with look back at the history and formation of the band, and then fast-forwards to talk about the 2020 induction of not one, but two, Men Without Hats songs into the Canadian Songwriter's Hall of Fame.

The three then move on to discuss the four albums Men Without Hats released in the 80s and the 1991 release Sideways. There's another fast-forward-- this time to the 2010s--to talk about the release of Love in the Age of War, and the conversation concludes with a rapid-fire question round for Ivan about the upcoming TWO new albums!
