We've relied on them for decades, but I'm starting to question whether they're having the same impact as they did only five years ago. With the growth of the internet and the exchange of imagery today, do art and design fairs have a future?

  • THE PATH | BRANDING | MATERIAL LUST
I’m Fernando Mastrangelo (@iamfm) and this is THE PATH, an interview series that uncovers the business of being an artist.
People don’t like to think of Art as a Business, and I get it, it kinda kills some of the romance of it, but that's not realistic anymore, as artists we’re trying to grow, we’re asking a new set of questions, and we’re using social media to expand our audience and even acquire new clients.
We’re gonna uncover some of the mysteries and strategies behind some of the most successful creatives in the field today, share those with you, so you can really see what it takes to build a successful studio.
For this interview, I'm sitting down with Material Lust, the New York-based duo that has an incredible brand identity, and branding is something absolutely paramount to having a successful studio. I wanted to sit down with them and get their insight as to how they built Material Lust, and have also created a second business titled Orphan work. Let's listen in on the conversation I had with Christian and Lauren, at their new york showroom and loft where ML is currently operating out of.
