  • EP 168 How to Worship Part 4 Engaging God Biblically Part 2 06-33

How do we come into the presence of our Holy, perfect God of glory? Is there a biblical way to approach Him? Are there rules? The Israelites observed detailed law to indicate that we must not take our relationship to God casually. What about today? Are there rules? Does law have anything to do with engaging God? Join Dr. Betters as he unpacks Psalm 24 and Psalm 95 in this continuing series on How to Worship in the context of building a spiritual legacy.

  • EP 166 How to Worship Part 3 Engaging God Biblically Part 3 06-29

When Sunday rolls around, do you casually arrive at church with no thought for the need to prepare your heart? Do you ask God to open your ears to His truth? What blessings might you be missing because your attitude toward corporate worship does not compel you to prepare for this opportunity to soak up strength from other believers and sense God’s presence in a different way? Psalm 25 and 95 showcase worship with calling people to sing praises to God, who is our Rock. But it also exhorts us to pay close attention to the Word preached. In too many churches there is little enthusiasm for expressing our praise to God through covenant singing or preparing to hear God’s Word. In this message Dr. Betters provides seven steps to help us prepare for worship that is genuine and transparent, worship that will help take us into deeper intimacy with our God.

  • Finding Freedom In The Rough Pathways Of Life

Renee Dixon compares her life as a widow, single mom, and small business owner with mounting bills to climbing a hard, rocky pathway filled with gnarled roots. She describes how she learned to grasp those roots as a means to pull herself along the hard road of life that sometimes felt impossible to travel. Those gnarled roots along the pathway helped shape Renee into a woman whose own determination, endurance and grit encourages the very people she is called to serve.
Renee is Executive Director of Freedom Hills Therapeutic Riding Program, located in Port Deposit, Maryland. Freedom Hills offers help and hope to people with disabilities as they find freedom through horseback riding. Riding horses helps them forget their limitations and “feel as though they are flying.”
Renee is a Warrior Woman whose story will encourage listeners who walking hard paths to recognize how hard times can prepare you to offer help and hope to others.

  • EP 164 How to Worship Part 1 06-25

Are you tired of the music wars in churches? Of what value are they? In this message, Dr. Betters turns our attention to something far more eternal and states, “I want my children and my grandchildren to learn that the worship of God must never be approached casually and that true worship is the non-negotiable essence of their spiritual development in their relationship to God.” What is the heart of worship? In this three-part series, we learn that the ninety-fifth Psalm is one of a series of psalms which the Israelites sang together as they went up to the temple in Jerusalem to worship. This is a liturgical prophecy Psalm that starts with a call to worship sung outside the sanctuary, followed by acts of praise inside the sanctuary and then ends with a prophetic warning. This series of worship hymns and instructions begins with the ninety-third Psalm and concludes with the one hundredth Psalm. Each of these is a demonstration and exhortation on how to worship. Worship is more than ritual. It is a relationship that we must pass on to our children and grandchildren.
