Still celebrating our one year anniversary ya'll! Catching up with some of my tribe and how they feel about COVID and the racial unrest that begun right after In My Shoes began.
Hear what they have to say, how they are doing today and what they think 2021 holds as we work toward herd immunity and maybe a little light at the end of the COVID tunnel.
Celebrate with me in this solo episode as In My Shoes turns ONE! Hear why this exciting day almost didn't happen, why I started the podcast, what I had to do when I was plagued with self-doubt and where In My Shoes is going next.
Don't miss ME, taking the mic solo.

Tinika Carrington thought she wanted to be a nurse, she did hair on the side and eventually decided that working as a hairstylist was the way to go. But a chance conversation with the husband of a client sent her life in a totally new direction. She got her Commercial Driver's License and now works in the transportation teamsters union for the entertainment industry in Georgia.
Breaking into the industry is tough, and many in the majority keep the information to themselves, sharing only with family and close friends. Listen as she talks about the importance of networking and the need for people of color to break through and dispel the myth that there are no qualified people of color to work in technical and support roles in entertainment.
Meet Stephanie, she and her husband have been struggling to get pregnant for a while, she was ashamed and often felt horrible as family and friends around her were able to have successful pregnancies.
She tells her story of infertility, how she stays positive and what she told her husband when she first learned she would have trouble getting pregnant. Stephanie will also talk about the stress she was under and what she decided to do to try and increase her chances of having a baby.

Listen as two members of my tribe talk about their college experience - one who attended a PWI (Predominantly White Institution) and on who attended an HBCU (Historically Black College or University).
How did they decide where they wanted to go, what were their experiences like, are there misconceptions about HBCUs that sometimes impact decisions? And if they had to do it all over again, would they make the same college choice?
Listen to Dr. Vanessa Stark, an anesthesiologist in Washington D.C. as she talks about her journey to becoming a doctor, the comments she gets when patients realize a Black woman will take care of them during surgery, and the difference between the way Black men and White men respond when dating a woman with M.D. behind her name.

It's Inauguration Day! Listen as my girls and I talk about the importance of today - what it means to us and what we think it means for our daughters and the country.
We are dropping this episode a day early because how could we not? It's the day the first woman ever, and a woman of color at that, is the Vice President of the United States!
To say we are excited is an understatement.
It's my little sis Amber Conage of Designs by Lynne and two of my sorority sisters, Lawanda Harper and Tiffini Ferdinand joining me for this important conversation.
This one has been in the vault for a bit, but the information is so timely. After watching a little series about women of color on Essence.com and the Madame CJ Walker Story (I know that's how long it's been).
I wondered about women supporting each other, why doesn't it happen more, why is it important and how can we do better?
Listen to me and a few members of my tribe get into this conversation, it's a good one!
This is a solo episode guys! Just giving you an update on the last few months of my 2020, my girl, her mental illness, what I just realized about myself, my word (one of them at least) for 2021 and the one place I was hoping to see more progress as we go into the New Year.
There's also a few nuggets about what episodes you can expect in the New Year!
Wishing you all an AMAZING 2021! Happy New Year!
Listen as members of my tribe talk about their side hustles, what they do when people want the hook up and when they began to put a price on what they offer clients in business.
It is a great discussion with Maureen, Amber and Ginain. Find out how people reacted when things they once did for free they were now charging for, why they struggled with calling themselves an expert, and how they handle it when in business, clients don't want to pay the price they are quoted.
