James discovers an unlikely gem on Netflix as he delights in the visually spectacular Arcane. Apple TV's Finch also made its way onto the watchlist, providing far fewer positive descriptors to insert into a sentence.

In our round-up of cinematic affairs, we discuss how Vin Diesel is quite possibly a bit of a [Insert derogatory expletive]. We also discuss, with initial 'spoiler free' trepidation, some potentially universe-shattering Marvel news.

Speaking of Marvel, it's the studio that just won't leave us alone and this week is no exception. Chloè Zhao is the latest talent to bring her directorial sensibilities to the Super Hero genre, in return, we give our unqualified opinions on Eternals for our main review. Dune has finally arrived and we have much to say about the structure, pacing, cinematography, production design, tone, and direction. But the conversation loses all credibility as we mostly fail to pronounce or recall the names of the actors, characters and locations.

For our watchlist this week, James embraces variety by sampling Neil Blomkamp's Sci-Fi shorts experiment Oats Studios. Sticking with Netflix as a consistent source of content, he then takes a trip into a German courtroom to give his final ruling on The Billion Dollar Code. Elsewhere, Dan discusses the problematic handling of sensitive subject matter with ITV's latest drama Angela Black and delivers his overly long, complex feelings about a terrible film, The Intergalactic Adventures of Max Cloud.

In Reel News, William Shatner boldly goes where no celebrity man (or woman) has gone before, we use this as an opportunity to fill 3 minutes of silence. Meanwhile back on earth, reviews are in for Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Is the positive reaction going to encourage us to don our proton packs into the cinema?

One film that did make us return to our local cinema is Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Due to us making the effort to see it, we decided to use our collective experience to feature it as this week's main review.

After debating the culpability of strangers looking in your living room window, we discuss at length our streaming selection for the week, something we are often liable to do. Dan enjoys the continuing lessons of Sex Education, and literally sings the praises of The Chestnut Man. James becomes a Jodie Comer fan after watching Help, and figuratively sings the praises of 28 Up: Millennium Generation.

Back in June, we each made our predictions for the UK summer box office top ten. Now it's time to find out who is the winner, while a brutal punishment awaits the loser.

The Guilty is Netflix's big film, or it's at least big enough to merit an in-depth review in the absence of big cinema releases. James laments the underwhelming arrival of the highly anticipated Sci-Fi epic Foundation. He does however find faith in Midnight Mass, an above-average horror drama from Netflix. Dan turns to terrestrial TV as he discusses Sex Actually with Alice Levine and ITV's latest crime series Manhunt.

As for the latest news hitting the headlines, it's mostly doom and gloom as we bid farewell to Apple TV's Mr. Corman. We also outrage at the possibility of an unnecessary Gladiator sequel.

Finally, we aim to end on a high much like the producers of this week's main review. After years of waiting, Bond is Back for the final time (at least in a Daniel Craig skin). Come and join us as we blast our way through No Time to Die.

James springs a quiz ambush that puts Dan's film knowledge to the test. After the dust settles, we discuss some of the very latest streaming offerings: Wolfe, The North Water, Squid Game, and Only Murders in the Building.

It was a great week for Reel News. We cover Marcia Lucas bashing the Star Wars sequels, the collapse of ill-conceived reality show The Activist, and the proposed redesign of Jessica Rabbit. 

And verily, we doth have a hearty main review for thee, of a long expected tale we have long coveted. The Green Knight. A film that subverted everyone's expectations by not being the story of Batman fighting climate change. 

James gets comfortable as he takes off his boots and pulls up a seat to watch The Chair, before putting his boots back on and planting his "Heels" firmly in the ground to witness a brand new wrestling drama (it's called Heels…).Dan remains predictably predictable as he laps up all the true crime documentaries and dramatisation's currently on offer, consisting of Memories of Murder, John of God, and Dr. Death.

For Reel news, there's vindication in store for James as Wandavision lands plentiful Emmy Nominations. We also ask the pressing questions, Is a female Bond finally on the cards? Was Shang Chi's climactic CGI-heavy showdown unforgivably bad? Neither is answered….

We hit you with a double whammy of new release goodness this week as our main review features not one but two films! We make the most out of our Apple TV+ subscriptions and delight in the wonder that is CODA. Finally, to wrap things up we sport our finest wellies to return to UK cinemas as we spend some time on the farm with Nicolas Cage and his beloved Pig
