This week's author: Lawren Green 

Lawren E. Greene, a New Jersey native, provides a humble and fresh perspective on life from an urban New Jersey setting. With his expressive writing style, he evokes the reader by making them feel like they are right in the book. He revolutionizes ones’ thought processes throughout his 12 volumes (Mortally Immortal and Diary of a Waterman) consisting of his life; challenging the reader to think about their own purpose in life.

Lawren maintains a BS in Economics from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University; a MS in Management Information Systems from Kean University; and a MS in Human Resource Management from Thomas Edison State College.

Also a premier spoken-word artist, Lawren has produced 5 albums; and working on number 6. He is also the founder and operator of www.transactioncity.com, a premier global eCommerce marketplace, the first of its kind. Lawren, the artist, entrepreneur, scholar, and refreshing individual.

Born, Shanna Marie Teasley in December of 1980 to Deacon James (deceased) and Deaconess Priscilla Teasley; Shan Marie is a native of Atlanta, Georgia.  Raised in nearby Decatur, Georgia (east of Atlanta), she is the middle child with an older brother and younger sister.  Searching for a place to belong and how she could fit into the equation of life, at the tender age of nine she wrote her first short story.  Always having a vivid imagination – in addition to real life situations and circumstances – she began to put her thoughts and feelings on paper.

Overwhelmed with a need to express herself – also to simply entertain others – Shan Marie continued to explore the newly found love for literature.  She fell head-over-heels in love with Urban Fiction, Thrillers, Suspense and Mystery novels.  By the age of seventeen, she’d completed her very first novel; needless to say, she’s grown emotionally and mentally since then, bringing her writing full circle. 

Shan Marie diligently writes with a heart-filled desire to provide heart-wrenching and warming fiction for her readers.  Writing novels that specialize in heroin based plots with the twists and turns of street life is her passion.  Full of love for a plethora of genres, she’s completed eight novels; including an Urban Christian novel and the first of an Urban Murder Mystery series.

Latoya Chandler, a New York-based writer, enjoys a career as an executive assistant to the CEO of a non-profit organization. When not busy writing or burying her nose in books of the urban romance/fiction persuasion, Latoya enjoys spending time with her family, consisting of her five loving children and her very patient better half.

In October of 2013, Latoya's life changed drastically when she realized she wasn't crazy and the people talking--or the voices in her head--were actually the voices of her potential characters desperately wanting to be heard. She began writing and before she knew it, she had penned her first novel, Torn: I Don't Need You, But I Want You. Latoya's pride and joy is scheduled to be released and published this winter from her long-desired personal publishing company, Passion Publications.

Cortina Jackson, a doting mother of 2 sons, received her Master’s degree in Criminal Justice. With over 15 years of law enforcement experience and knowledge, she has seen firsthand that; oftentimes, life is scarier than fiction. This has given her a basis for the material in her writing that often seems too detailed to be true. She currently resides in McKinney, TX, where she is working on her second Master’s degree and her next novel. Cortina is enthusiastic about sharing her passion for writing with you.

The story line follows: Clara, the unbeliever due to God’s lack of intervention; Toni, Clara’s friend; homosexual by nature, faithful friend by design; and Nick, a pastor who endures his own trials. Their lives intersect as they each experience turmoil and tragedy in their lives. However, no matter the trials and tribulations that they face, choices must still be made that will determine their future. With all of the Hell on earth occurring these days, the one place that one can expect to find refuge is the church. According to Shawn Starling, “The words by the late rapper, The Notorious B.I.G., could not have been a better way to introduce myself. Those words describe the exact essence of my beginning. They represent what was and what lives inside of me even in this transitioning period of my life. To recognize one’s faults is the key to understanding the direction you are heading in. Opening my eyes to my own truths blessed me with a consciousness that I consider God Sent. I understand. Just like the character in my book, Real, I grew up in Mosby Court Projects inside the home with a dedicated Christian family.” 

“I too, chose the streets over the integrity and values I was raised with. I too, wanted more without realizing everything I really needed was right in front of me. I too, lost it all in the blink of an eye. I was a scared little boy. When the realization of that statement hit me, it was at a time when I could truly say I had become man. Reading this, you may asked, ‘How could a grown man say he was a scared little boy?’ 

"Well, that is the truth. Here I stand with my first published novel, REAL RECOGNIZE REAL, and 8 more unpublished manuscripts to follow. I am a father of two beautiful daughters and a grown man. Today I can say that and know that it is the truth. It is the truth without a façade to hide behind. I am a sole survivor.

In Jan. 2014, Jackie Vernon-Thompson, Founder and President of From the Inside-Out School of Etiquette LLC, was inspired by the Holy Spirit to create a school that teaches girls to perform at their optimum. In our fast-paced society, there is a definite need for this service.

Jackie has earned a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Business focusing on Communications. A certified Etiquette Consultant for the International community, Jackie has worked with girls in the urban and suburban communities for many years and is blessed with the ability to meet each girl where she is in order to be effective. For several years, she has been afforded the opportunity to conduct etiquette skills and self-enhancement workshops at her church for a girl’s group called the Pearlettes.

From the Inside-Out School of Etiquette LLC works with each girl internally, with her attitude, what she thinks of herself, the standards she has set for herself and any self-inflicting faults created. Once those concerns and others are addressed, there is a strong possibility that she will be a changed young lady, for the better, from the inside out. Jackie also believes in philanthropy and has, in many cases, shared her gift of teaching etiquette and self-enhancement classes at various venues. It is her prayer that every lesson taught will resonate with each girl for life.

Parents today are experiencing such busy schedules and sometimes do not have the opportunity to teach their daughters the necessary etiquette and life skills. The desire of every parent is that their daughter grows to become a well-rounded, respectful young lady and one who will superbly perform in any environment. Unfortunately, the day just doesn’t seem to have enough hours. Eunice Bridges, as the founder and Executive Director of EB's Flip the Script Productions, LLC, is the mother of 3, grandmother of 6. The main purposes of EB's Flip the Script Production, LLC are to lift up the name of the Lord, Jesus, and to minister throughout our community.

Born in Mobile, Alabama, Eunice moved to California at the age of 6 years old. In 1978, Eunice graduated from Cordova Senior High School and is currently working as a Deputy Clerk III for the Superior Courts of California.

Pryde Foltz was born in Winnipeg, Canada, where she learned to walk on hard-packed snow and to deal with the inevitable of a fall-through. "Don’t panic! You aren’t going to die. Take your foot out of the boot; then dig out the boot; and they won’t find your melting corpse in the spring.", she told herself,

After a short stay in Surrey, British Columbia.— only the most glamorous cities for her — she attended high school in Calgary, Alberta. The Cow-garians didn’t let her go until she could yee-haw like a pro. While at UBC, the yee-haw morphed into a tongue-curl call of a warrior princess.

Pryde obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre and later a Bachelor of Education degree. She has taught both in Vancouver and Japan and traveled extensively. Currently, she is a stay-at-home mom and a frequent denizen of Vancouver Starbucks.

Pauline (P. M.) Griffin, writing since her early childhood, enjoys telling a good tale. Since she always works with characters and situations that are deeply interesting to her, she finds the research as rewarding as the scribbling/keying. 

Her Irish love of story-telling, coupled with her passion for history, the natural world, and the above-mentioned research,  have resulted in 19 novels and 12 short stories, 2 Muse Medallion Award winners among them, all in the challenging realms of science fiction and fantasy. 

Pauline lives in Brooklyn, New York, with her cats Jinx, Katie, and Nickolette and 3 tropical fish aquariums and devotes just about every 'spare' moment to writing, research, and reading. 

All her published books and stories to date are s-f or fantasy. Her solid adventure tales are character-driven and character-oriented. Two of the short stories won the Cat Writers' Association's Muse Medallion Award. Her books are for adults (because of vocabulary, sentence structure, etc., not because of objectionable content), although a good reader who is much younger would also enjoy them. She could have read any of them at the age of 10 or 11.

Janis Mavis is a self-published author of Feelings Inside Of Me, A Collection of Inspirational Poetry to Touch the Heart and Open the Soul. A native of Washington, D. C., Ms Mavis is talented as a Creative Writer, Entrepreneur, and Motivational Speaker.

Ms Mavis majored in Computer Information Systems. Subsequently, she developed a home-based business (V&J Graphics Design) where she offered services such as: creative writing, graphic design, and programs for all events and occasions.

A creative writer, with the goal to inform and assist people of all generations with their creative ability and expressions, she created her book, Feelings Inside of Me, A Collection of Inspirational Poetry to Touch the Heart and Open the Soul. I sponsored creative writing workshops and Book Signings at the Martin Luther King Library in Washington, D.C and the Covenant House of Washington, DC.

Presently marketing her book, Feelings Inside Of Me, She is also providing services such as creative writing for all events and special occasions. In the midst of drafting her second collection book of poetry, she anticipates that it will be published this year.
