In this episode, we bring you Part 2 of a series on the Book of Lamentations. We continue to see this book of poetry build up in this chapter, and we read along as the author of the book discusses some interesting (and deeply tragic) themes. Listen in as we read some of the more disheartening verses you'll find in the Bible (although, there is always hope!).

It's been a while, but as the weather cools off, the Fire has heated up once again. This week, we bring a discussion from the Book of Lamentations. Specifically, we take a look through Lamentations 1 and discuss some important topics of Israel's history, as well as humanity's grief, pain, and suffering (fun stuff). Join us as we talk through some big topics and take a read through the beginning of this beautiful book of poetry.

Rebelling against God is a tale as old as time (literally!), and in today’s episode we cover yet another instance of such action. Here, the disobedience comes when Moses fails to follow God’s direct orders in providing nourishment for the nation of Israel. Nearly 40 years into their wandering in the desert, God’s people have grown restless and thirsty. In a (rare) moment of weakness, Moses loses patience and disobeys the Lord, and then is left to face the consequences. We're back! And our long awaited finale to our series on the Book of Esther has arrived. In this episode, we read the final two chapters of this fascinating book, discuss main themes and ideas, as well as cool connections to other parts of the Bible, and summarize our biggest takeaways and lessons from Esther's story.

The fifth episode of our Esther series brings us to Chapters 7 and 8 of this dramatic Book. This fourth episode of our series on Esther brings us to the high-stakes drama that we have been anxiously awaiting. Here, we see many plots start to weave together, as God’s plan for His people’s situation becomes more and more evident. Our main characters in the book begin to interact in very intriguing ways. As we discuss the continued drama, we reflect on God’s purpose, plan, and place in this part of Israel’s history, connecting to different parts of Bible and to lessons that we can learn today.

Our third episode in our series on Esther brings us to the third and fourth chapters of the book. Here, we find out a lot more about the main characters in this book and meet a new bad guy. As the plot unfolds, we learn even more about the ways in which God works through humans in this world and we discuss how the narrative of Esther’s life might challenge our own faith. Our second stop in our series on Esther brings us to Esther Chapter 2, where we meet the title character in this dramatic story. We continue with the story of King Xerxes, who hasn’t forgotten about his decree from the first chapter of the book. Chapter 2 leads us to some interesting - and challenging - questions about God’s plans for His people and how we fit into those plans. This chapter also introduces us to some of the drama that will start unfold in this remarkable time in history, so listen in and get ready for the rest of the story!

In this episode, we kick off a new year in the fire by starting a new series on the book of Esther. Come along as we start things off with an overview of the background, history, and context of the book to set the stage for the remainder of the series. As we usher in another Christmas season, the first stop on this year's Advent-ure brings us to first chapter of the Book of Luke, which tells the stories of Elizabeth and Mary and the miraculous conceptions of John the Baptist and Jesus.
