This episode explores the idea of 'throwing in the towel' - your coach in the corner has the ability at any stage of the fight to throw in the towel. You don't actually see the towel come flying in over the ropes that often. I have used this metaphor to downplay what it is like to be in the ring - when you are only ever seconds away from success or disaster.

The culture of New Zealand Boxing has been toxic for years. Yes, there has been some success, but many athletes carry regret and have left the sport altogether due to selection, bullying, unprofessional behaviour, etc. We can focus on the current coach in the media, but the truth is, he is just one in a long line of poor coaches. When will something ever be done about it? I would suggest a few uppercuts be handed out, which is boxing-speak for 'fall on their sword.' I give first-hand experience around regretting the decision to throw in the towel at the peak of my sporting career, despite the media articles, talking to officials - nothing changed then, and it seems nothing has changed now.

Life moments are times or moments that change the course of your life - sometimes for the better, and sometimes for the worse. Trevor talks about his life moment at 11 years of age that changed the course of his life. He went on to represent New Zealand at the Olympics and created his own path within an environment where not a lot was expected.
