In this episode, we read through Matthew 14:22–33 and reflect on Jesus walking on the water. Though this is a familiar passage, it invites us to slow down and consider the power and tenderness of Christ in the midst of fear and uncertainty. We see a Savior who meets His disciples with reassurance, calls them into active faith, and brings peace where there was chaos.
This passage challenges us to examine where our eyes are fixed — on Jesus or on the surrounding waves. We’re reminded that faith begins to falter when our focus shifts, but restoration comes the moment we reach out to Christ. His presence brings calm, His love casts out fear, and our only response is worship.
Reflection Questions:
1. Where in your life are you focusing more on the “waves” than on Jesus?
2. Is your faith currently active or passive — are you moving toward Christ or waiting for comfort first?
3. What do you tend to reach for when fear or discomfort sets in, and how can you intentionally reach for Jesus instead?
