The Valley Gate was of the lowest elevation of all the Gates of ancient Jerusalem. It speaks of the valleys we pass through in life. Also it speaks of the attitude of Humility. Humility in the world is considered a weakness. But in The Kingdom of God it is considered one of the great attributes of Christ. We are exhorted to put on this this mindset of Humility. Also, this Valley Gate speaks of The Valley of Baca of which the Psalmist spoke of and encourages us to pass through times of grief and sorrow and tribulation and in the passing through experience the refreshing of God for our souls.

The Old Gate was simply named that because it predated all the other gates . It speaks of the value of foundational truths in the word of God. If we only study and learn of the New Testament revelation we miss out on the a correct full revelation of God's word. Also we fall short of a correct understanding of the New Covenant. The Bible is a progressive revelation both Old and New. Matt.13: 51-52, “Jesus said to them ,Therefore every scribe instructed concerning thekingdom of heaven is like a householder who brings out of his treasure thingsNew and Old.”

The Fish Gate is the second gate we come to as we visit the work of restoration of the walls and gates of Jerusalem. The Fish Gate was on the eastern wall of the city as was the sheep gate. The Fish Gate is where fish were brought in for the large market just inside this gate. The fish gate represents outreach and the work of evangelism. Jesus' first followers were the four fishermen Peter, Andrew and James and John. Jesus promised to make them "fishers of men." The desire to seek and save the lost was Jesus calling and it must be likewise for His church

The first gate we are presented with is the Sheep Gate. It is the first gate of 10 gates that gave access to the ancient city of Jerusalem. The work of restoration of the is gate and the adjacent section of walls was assigned to Eliashib and the Levite priests. Nehemiah 3:1 "Eliashib the High Priest rose up and built the Sheep Gate; they consecrated it and hung its doors." What an example this man must have been to encourage others to this hard and difficult labour. When they see their High Priest humble himself to do this work of restoration represents such a picture of Christ humbling Himself to the difficult challenge to save and restore the sheep of humanity.

This episode is the introduction to the story of the Restoration of the Walls and Gates of the City of Jerusalem had been conquered by the empire of Babylon. Its wall were leveled and the Gates burned. The beautiful Temple of Solomon was stripped of its gold and was also completely destroyed. Nehemiah prays after hearing of the desolate condition of Jerusalem and after four month period of intercession and fasting finds favour with the King to return to Jerusalem to rebuild the walls and gates of the city. In this final episode of Faith Is The Victory, we will look at the victory of faith of the 3 Hebrew young men who faced the judgement of the king of Babylon and were cast into a furnace of fire. I believe these men were delivered through faith in the promise of God they would have knowledge of in Isaiah 43:2. "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,
Nor shall the flame scorch you."

This episode gives us a great biblical record of the victory of faith through King Hezekiah. A force of 200,000 of Assyrian invaders take the nation of Israel and surround and lay siege to the capital city Jerusalem. In this story we see how a righteous King overcomes through faith filled prayers and the prophetic word of the prophet Isaiah.

1 John 5:4, "For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith." The Bible gives us great stories of the victory of faith that overcomes challenges that are too big for us but not to big for our God who promises to be with us and deliver us. In this episode we visit the victory of Jonathan and his armour bearer over the Philistines in 1 Samuel 13 and 14.

Faith coupled with Patience is needed by believers to secure the fulfillment of the promises of God. Patience from the Greek is a compound word "makrothumia.""Makro" meaning large or great and "thumia" meaning pressure. Our faith will be challenged with times of disappointment and delay in expected fulfillment. In this episode we look into the faith of Caleb who endured a 45 year delay in the promise by remaining "wholehearted" in the promise the lord had given. him. God rewards those who continue to believe despite disappointments and delay.

Now Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1. Faith and hope work together. In fact hope is like the blueprint of a structure. Faith is the action of the builder taking the blueprint and being directed by it to bring substance into actual reality. Both hope and faith are generated by the word of God. Hope can be generated from any Biblical promise of God and needs to be established in your heart by repetitive meditation and speaking the promise over yourself.
