Summary

We start with discussions around the Apple Vision Pro developer beta, its stability improvements, and how developers are preparing ahead of the September 9th Apple Event. The team also unpacks the iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 betas, exploring performance, subtle refinements, and the heated debates around redesigned app icons — sparking an insightful conversation on usability, branding, and generational design preferences.

A highlight of the episode is Apple's new AirPods feature that lets users remotely control the iPhone's camera via simple stem gestures. We explore its impact on photography, family shots, and even discuss the privacy implications this capability raises.

Next, we shift to macOS Tahoe, including the much-anticipated addition of the Journal app to Mac, improvements in cross-device workflows, and Xcode's new AI integration, which now supports GPT-5 and Claude models. We discuss how Apple is quietly opening doors for developers while possibly sidestepping antitrust concerns.

The conversation wraps with thoughts on the streaming landscape, including Apple TV+'s price increase, Apple Music's expansion to TuneIn, and the broader implications of rising subscription costs. As always, the panel shares candid takes, bold predictions, and personal workflows that Apple power users will find invaluable.

Summary

Major news headlines include Apple's recent update to the Apple Watch blood oxygen feature. The panel analyzes technical and legal implications, discussing how select watch models now regain this popular health capability through an iPhone and Apple Watch software workaround, referencing user experiences and perspectives on health data tracking and device compatibility.

The episode transitions to the Vision Pro and its VisionOS 26 beta 6 release, noting a lack of major changes but reflecting on the broader developer beta process and the excitement or skepticism within the community, especially over anticipated new environments and hardware rumors like a possible M5 chip in future Vision Pro models.

Apps in focus include SailGP, a mixed reality app for sports fans that sets a new standard for immersive race coverage and AR visualizations. The panel explores its strengths and ponders expansion to other sports. Meanwhile, iOS 26 beta 6 is dissected for its subtle UI enhancements and the Wallet app's new card vaulting feature, which brings all credit card info into one secure location for convenience and security.

News of Apple Stores introducing on-site iPad repairs is received as a positive shift toward more customer-friendly service, though concerns about logistics and inventory remain. The possible release of a new entry-level MacBook at a sub-$999 price point is debated, with thoughts on its impact for education markets, users' expectations, and technical compromises.

Further discussions highlight:

• The panel's experiences with the F1 movie in IMAX, praising its immersive qualities and its educational insight into the sport.

• A new nostalgic VHS-styled app, "Cassette," for organizing and replaying old videos.

• The security-focused vault app "Access," alternative to 1Password, with analysis of its privacy, encryption, and use cases.

• Apple Card's satisfaction ratings and comparison to other credit cards according to the latest JD Power survey.

• The upcoming Apple Arcade September lineup, featuring NFL Retro Bowl 26 and Jeopardy Daily, which stirs memories and excitement for mobile gaming.

• Updates about Netflix's redesign for tvOS and the implications for viewing convenience.

Summary

In this packed episode of In Touch With iOS, host David Ginsburg is joined by an all-star panel: Guy Serle, Jill McKinley, Chuck Joiner, Eric Bolden, Marty Jencius, and Jeff Gamet. The show opens with a detailed breakdown of Apple's record-setting Q3 2025 earnings of $94 billion, highlighting growth in iPhone, Mac, and Services, while noting declines in iPad and Wearables. The panel analyzes Tim Cook's commentary, particularly around Apple's increasing investment in AI and hints toward potential acquisitions in the space.

The discussion shifts to the Vision Pro, with reflections on Apple's strategy, pricing challenges, and comparisons with competitors like Meta and Xiaomi. Panelists agree that the Vision Pro is still a high-end, early-stage device, but are optimistic about future consumer-focused versions. Software updates take center stage as the team reviews iOS 18.6, macOS Sequoia 15.6, and watchOS 11.6—all featuring important security and bug fixes. The beta version of macOS Tahoe earns praise for its customizable Control Center, a long-requested feature.

AppleCare One, Apple's new bundled protection plan, is explored in depth, especially its integration with the iPhone Upgrade Program and its cost-saving potential. The team discusses an online calculator that helps users determine if switching from AppleCare+ makes financial sense.

One hot topic is iOS 26's new spam text filtering, which has stirred controversy among political fundraising groups. The panel weighs in enthusiastically in favor of giving users better control over unwanted messages.

Rounding out the episode are updates on AirTag integration with 30+ airlines, enabling real-time luggage tracking, and news that JPMorgan may take over the Apple Card from Goldman Sachs. There's also chatter about the temporary closure of the Apple Store at Caesars Palace Las Vegas—possibly to make room for Vision Pro demos.

Episode 366 of In Touch With iOS opens with lighthearted summer vibes and warm panel intros before turning reflective as the group honors Tim Robertson, a well-known figure in the Apple podcasting community. Panelists share their memories and impact stories, setting a heartfelt tone for the episode.

The conversation soon pivots to Apple's Vision Pro, beginning with legal headlines surrounding a former employee accused of leaking trade secrets to Snap. This segues into a discussion about a new app designed to explore Haven One, a future space station. The panel describes their mixed experiences with the immersive app, including moments of awe and literal dizziness.

Dave and guests then focus on the Bezel app, a tool that enables iPhone screen mirroring within the Vision Pro environment. From demo hiccups to moments of smooth integration, the team shares honest thoughts on its usefulness and limitations.

Summary

In this episode of In Touch With iOS, host David Ginsburg gathers Chuck Joiner, Marty Jencius, Guy Serle, and Eric Bolden to explore Apple's recent announcements and beta releases. The show opens with a detailed look at VisionOS 26 and the expanding role of the Vision Pro in both collaborative design and enterprise applications. A standout segment covers a new 3D workspace app called Analog Two, which enables immersive teamwork and spatial project management.

The panel goes deeper, discussing Vision Pro's potential in medicine — including its application in improving colonoscopy procedures. With commentary from each guest, they explore how spatial computing could transform diagnostic and healthcare tools.

Shifting to iOS 26, the discussion critiques Apple's recent features such as HomePod crossfade, noting a perceived lack of excitement. Chuck, Marty, and Guy also reflect on the ongoing transition away from Intel Macs and the support drop-off for older iPhones, prompting a nostalgic conversation on Apple's hardware evolution.

Later, the Dave introduces Setapp — a software subscription platform that bundles a wide range of apps for Mac and iOS — and evaluates its value for productivity and power users. Dave shares his experience with T-Mobile's home internet service, and a squirrel chewing on AT&T fiber cable knocking out his internet, while the group discusses the branding and industry reception of CarPlay Ultra.

The episode wraps up with a preview of Macstock 9 and a celebration of two decades of podcasting, reinforcing the show's deep roots in the Apple community.
